Well no one REALLY knows what will be in the army. I've read rumors that no xenos, vanilla marines are gonna be in the box. They made references for what else to expect but im not sure if the source is even credible. I really think SM are still going to be in the 6th codex. Maybe Dark Angels vs Chaos or something.
I talked to a guy at a local comic book shop. He reads into all the rumors big time so I just ask him. He informed me that 6th edition will change the rules radically and we will most likely be playing a different game. Then again this is from the same person who told me that I shouldn't expect a printed Dark Eldar codex, ever. He has been right about a lot of things as well, so its a shot in the dark.
I just look forward to a 6th edition rule set because maybe the new codex for armies will speed up. Im crossing my fingers for Eldar. Pretty confident Necrons and maybe Tau will have their new codex before 6th edition. None of will know officially until two weeks before it hits the press.

All editions were about IoM.
It will stay that way, and no main rulebook editiopn will ever be about Xenos.
Box set will likely be IoM versus Chaos or Xenos.

I think it will be BT in the box. The new 40K MMO with the BT as the poster boys on the cover, I am sure GW will synergise it (yeah tyrandi player here, use to that word alot ) with the 6th edtion so people new to 40K through the MMO will have some familiarity because of BT.
Then again, this is GW, se we never know what they will do since alot of things they do, make no sense.
After all they gave up on Millions of dollars (or is that Billions) thinking they a re better than Blizzard.

Well, one of these two things is unlikely, since significant rules changes in the new edition would would invalidate codices published beforehand. There are well-founded rumours that the Necrons will indeed get a new one soonish, but nothing substantial on the other two. It's quite possible - as was Jervis' explanation for the demise of the Squats - that nobody in the studio can thing of anything new and worthwhile to add to the Eldar or Tau right now. I doubt Games Workshop would abandon the former, since the Eldar are fairly important to the game universe's mythos (Though the Dark Eldar are both selling well and being heavily-promoted, so you never know...), but I could easily imagine the Tau being left to rot with (at best) a White Dwarf codex.

Except we don't. We benefited just as much as you did from the FAQ/Errata update. I'd say we're about even in power. Mind you, our Codex is, bar Necrons, the oldest one that's still the latest incarnation of the army.

With the interest in the Horus Heresy books and several of those novels getting to the New York Times Best Sellers list, I'd like to think GW didn't have their collective heads completely up their behinds and do a Chaos Marine/ Loyalist Marine boxed set. More than likely the loyalists would be vanilla, but perhaps colored yellow this time...

Yeah the hype around those books and matching that with the upcoming box set would be smart in a marketing aspect. I wouldn't mind seeing chaos at all.

BT are solid as is, DA have needed an update basically since that codex was published. All of the flavor that made Green Marines fun to play got obliterated, most notably no plasma discount. Now The DW is overshadowed by the Wolfwing and the ravenwing is just meh. Just looking at armies represented at tourneys DA need an update to build up some excitment.
I highly doubt the box set will be SM vs SM I can see it not being smurfs but not a more exotic chapter like DA or BT. but the hint was that there would be No smurfs or Xenos. I can see snap fit sisters and chaos, it makes me shudder but it seems plausible.

No, no, no.
Look, rumors this far out are almost never correct. Many of the so called 'rumors' have been either wishlisting, made up, or so obvious that it's painful. 'They're going to change vehicles!' Well, duh. 'Psychic Powers are going to change!' Again, duh. And 'Chaos Legions'? Don't make me laugh.
As to the boxset, who know's what'll be in there. My guess says Vanilla Marines and something that those Marines can slap around, just like in Black Reach. After all, Marines make over 50% of GW's income.

I bizarrely heard SOB and Necrons for the box! Unlikely I know but at least it would be amusing and new.
I 'understand' that the Tau codex is well underway and could be the first 6th ed or last 5th ed codex release. Eldar supposedly next after that (needs to be done as the DE do almost everything Eldar do but slightly better and slightly cheaper, IMHO).
Still it's the realms of speculation sadly and all just whistling in the wind...

... Hmmm.... Didn't the sisters discover the Necrons? They could name it after the massacre, give GW a reason to beat on sisters more and after releasing the new Necron Codex, it'll open them up to releasing a Sister's codex that's... dare I say it.... Competitive! with more then One Build!
okay, yeah... probably all just a dream...

So, I've been thinking about this alot more since I just last posted.
SoB and Necrons seem to be very reasonable, considering the AoBR box set... Reasons as follows:
+ IoM versus the evil Xeno theme is still adhered to, even if it's not Ultra-Smurfs
+ The Necron have Gauss weaponry, Sisters have the 6+ save standard (now)
+ Just like in AoBR we have a MEQ vrs Non-MEQ
+ the AoBR was built around utilizing a wide verity and kinds of troops (Walkers, Jetbikes, assault weapons, rapid fire and heavy weapons, 2+ saves, 5++ saves) all of these are very clearly available between SoB and Necrons. with Acro-Flagellants we even have some 5+ saves in large numbers just like orks. Sisters have the Flame template covered. Necrons can cover the Small Blast (Assuming they still have one in the new codex)
+ It would explain why they pumped out a SoB WD codex so... Haphazardly....
+ they are already releasing Neon green plastic with the templates, so the Green dowels for the Gauss weaponry isn't a stretch.
+ a squad of 20 sisters, in plastic, will make this starter box fly off the shelves. even with a sub-par codex. hell even if it's a squad of 10 sisters (Ala Smurfs) they will still do well.
Just think of AoBR but sisters play the Orks instead. Necron's will be the sought after army with their new book (unless they get the tyranid treatment) so finding sisters on the web will be a nice cheap alternative to years of pewter we had to deal with.
I'm starting to believe this could be a possibility, even if it's still a bit of a stretch...

I very much doubt it. Games Workshop are unlikely to deviate from their pattern of packaging Space Marines with the basic set; like it or not, they are the most iconic and identifiable of the game's factions, whereas the Sisters of Battle are a footnote. Necrons are vaguely plausible, but they're not exactly part of the game universe's core either.
It's pure, albeit reasonable, speculation, but given the mainstream success of the Horus Heresy novels, and since we've had Tyranids and Orks in the last two boxes, the sensible money would be on Chaos Marines as the other choice.
