Its from the older dreadnought model. It may be the DA or BA one. I dunno I have 2 bodies and arms for 3. AC Left and Right (2), MM, DCCW (2) Left and Right

When the imperium had metal dreads ( pre DarkAgeofTechnology ), there were 5 types:

- Bjorn, a SW dread with AC / claws
- A ultramarine dread with AC / DCCW
- A Dark Angels dread with TL-Las / ML
- A Blood Angels dread with MM / DCCW
- A furioso ( BA ) with 2x DCCW

Was possible to order the parts separately with bitz service ( also pre AgeofStrife ).

I don't think that Vanilla Marines are out.SM are the cover boys for the 40k,and the simpliest. The aim of the starter set is to teach the pl;ayer the rules, and the SM have the simplest.

It will definately be Vanilla(if not Smurfs, theIF,CF,Raven Guard,Salamanders,Iron Hands,or hopefully Blood Ravens). It won't be White Scars, because they are a bile army, and bikes are not the simple units you put in en masse for your first game.

Double Assault Cannon!

Maybe use it as a Comtemptor dreadnought,as they are the only ones capable of taking twin Assault cannons.

If I had to lay money down on a new frontpage army for C:SM it would be back to CF. Blue is a forgiving color and yellow is not otherwise I'd Say IF. I wouldnt hold your breathe on Blood Ravens. Thier fluff from the game and other GW stuff leaves them in a wierd middleground between IF and BA heritage, red is also not a forgiving color. I'm genuinely interested to see what does happen.

BT are too complicated to use from the start.6+ invulnerables, but no cover, but if you're playing 750pts+ you must get this guy,gut he doesn't count as an HQ slot, unless he is your only HQ,then he does.

Complicated?Yes.

SM are the face of 40k,not Sisters. It will be Vanillas vs either Chaos or Eldar.

The bolded part is only true if you take what is probably the worst Vow in the Codex. And seriously, how hard is it to understand the sentence "If you're at 750+ points, you have to take the Emperor's Champion"?

Holy Shnit it is!. I never thought to really look at it that way because it was pewter, but on the inside of the arm you can see the skull and lightning bolt from the outside of the other arm...I wonder if one of these dreads is a total recast.

The assault cannon is a right arm ONLY weapon in the citadel annual.
Left arm had 3 variants: DCCW(stormbolter), Furioso DCCW(identical but heavy flamer instead of stormbolter) and missile launcher.

The sarcophagus in the pic is actually a BA one.

Could take a shot with the camera of that page in the catalogue. (in 2000 its 26/27 ).

Eldar got finecosted, don't they? Unlikely to move to plastic.

And Tau vs BT would hint at Nimbosa, not damocles gulf.

Given the rumours, Eldar is one of the least likely Xenos. Not only are the Xeno (which the rumours say won't feature in the set), but they are currently in good shape and not looking like they'll get a 5th edition codex at all. The races in the box set will be from a codex with a release close to the new edition. Additionally, GW has over-used codex space marines (vanillas) and there's other space marine chapters which will be released in closer proximity to the new edition. I'd personally rate Tau as significantly more likely than Eldar to feature, if we even get a xeno in there.
(Just like how I'd rate it highly likely the Tau will, with the next codex, become a much larger player in the world with significantly more planets - just like how Dark Eldar suddenly multiplied by a factor of magnitude in numbers with the latest codex)

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Not alone there and a starter box wouldn't feature a crusade.

Why should any Templar brother want his "knights in space" as a starter army?

.....vs Tau so you can re-enact the fight against the brown clad desert dwellers?

They weren't alone at Nimbosa either...
I'm still split as to whether I'd like a Templars starter box. Part of me says "NEW CODEX AND SHINIES WHOO!", another part says "Templars as FotM Boo!".
