  • I was wondering what to get next. Thanks

If you want to get competitive, you'll need to start getting some vehicles. Rhinos. Razorbacks if you want the TL-Plasma gun and Lascannon. Predators, Vindicators, it depends on what type of army you want to field.

    What Codex are you using?

I'm using a codex I got from a local GW store. It is the latest edition but not specified for a specific chapter.

That's the standard Space Marine codex. It's a very competitive book (especially on the friendly play level) and is very friendly to new players.

I would definitely suggest mech'ing and melta'ing up. Get a Land Raider for your terminators (you're going to eventually want to arm them with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields). And Rhinos/Razorbacks/Drop Pods for your marines. On foot, the standard Marine is just waaay too slow! They need to get in close to use their assault weapons (Meltaguns, Plasma Guns, Flamers) and from a Rhino, they can shoot out of the hatch from the safety of their transport!

Additionally, you may want to invest in a better HQ, the Space Marine Captain is pretty weaksauce. I would suggest looking at some of the special characters. Vulkan is particularly popular. A plain old Librarian is a very decent choice as well, as the psychic defenses/abilities he offers are critical.

Vindicators and Thunderfire Cannons are great Heavy Support choices.

Truthfully, outside of a few nuts, the SM book has very few "bad choices". You'll learn with time that there are some "Bad combination" and you'll learn which combination of units works best for you.

    Good luck!

Btw when buying your models just buy razorback sets and magnetize them so they can be interchangeable as rhinos.
