Prepare thyself, for Flinty has finally picked up a paintbrush! (it's a shock I know)

Anyway. Finally mounted the time and courage to paint one of my Terran Marines. I've gone for the classic SC2 pallette of Raynor's Raiders for this guy. One squad will be done up in this scheme, while the other will be Confederation red (but I get ahead of myself).

Rather pleased with how it came out. No work of art, but definately serviceable. The visor needs a final swoosh of burnished gold, but my pot has dried up :( Also looking for some ideas for the rifle. I just washed it more heavily than the armour, but I think the other squad members will get a better colour on there (whatever that may be). The white balance on the pics goes a bit wonky, but you get the idea.

Hmm.. I've also unwittingly covered up the small amount of weathering I tried on the torso... Some more may be added...

Looks good, but I would suggest doing something on the base. Maybe making a brick type one.

In ur base, sniping ur doodz

Maybe add some kill markings to the gun, or some basic scratches.
+1 Internets for starcraft marine!
I also agree with the other posts in that a proper base would finish it off.
A cityfight type base would probably work.

Thanks guys

ooh... kill markings. I like the idea...

Proper basing will be done eventually. This force has a theme of transition between urban/rural, so roads, ditches and suchlike. I've GSed up a few bases already but need to do the rest.

@yokoyomama - already done so

I've been following your work for a while now and I'm so happy to finally see some paint! Looking very good. Do you have anything in mind for the base? I think the general "twilight" tileset from Starcraft would suit him well, and let the blues and light metallics stand out.

Like everyone else said, really good. I'm not familiar with your previous work, are you working on an entire army of these guys? and are these guys going to be your terminators, or normal marines?

I miss the good old days when a man would build a skyscraper with his bare hands just so you would stop hitting him with a shovel.

Thanks guys.

@AresX8 - Good 'ol Tychus will be along presently

@BrotherSRM - Its a good idea, but I've already decided to go for the more rural type of SC2 map for basing, but that will include destroyed industrial cladding and tarmac.

@Chickenbgood - I linked my Dakka blog a bit further up if you're interested. Originally they were a way of making counts-as Ogryns in my Guard force, but that kind of mushroomed after I completed my Goliath and now it is a counts-as Dark Angels Deathwing hunter task force (Scouts, Deathwing and Ravenwing)
