Anything with Boltgun metal on it... I hate Boltgun metal. It is by far the worse paint ever.

So the worse thing i've ever painted is that GK army i was never gonna start.

The now OOP big Tyranid terrain piece by Forge World. Even a toothbrush couldn't get all mould residue out of all the holes and cracks, so paint easily chips off.

I second this. They just suck to paint and you cant assemble them for use and still maintain easy access to all areas to paint it properly.

Orks, because they come in an endless pile of them...the most fun army to play, the most horrific monotonous mountain of boys to paint that never seems to shrink.

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

3rd. The only thing to mix up the paint job is trying to try to weather the freakin' thing.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Necron Warriors - they have almost no poseability, are boring to paint and come in endless numbers...

Yeah I think the Drop Pod is up there for me as well. I guess it also depends on what colour scheme you pick - I didn't enjoy painting my old Marines (for some reason choosing a plae bone & ble colour scheme was the worst decision I made for that army - so it still languishes at 1,000pts

But as individual models go, I remember the Drop Pod being a pain and pretty uninspiring.

Oh, and Wraithguards. They are also a hell to paint.

Imperial fist drop pod, undercoated black and hand painted.....I'd rather stick a hot fork in my eye than do that again.

I liked doing the drop pod, didn't find it hard at all. 'Course I have a tendency to ignore assembly instructions...

Worst thing I painted; Finecast Captain Stern. Horrible - so many fixes to make, and so many more found that you missed as you paint it. Hard to spend so much time on a model and know it's deeply flawed.

The Chaos spawn was so horrible to paint. Highlightning wouldn't work. The old, metal one was so cool to paint, but the plastic one was terrible and I don't know why.

For me I dislike painting tanks! I just find that no matter how careful you can be you'll always look at them and see the flat spots of colour you need to highlight or the brush stroke you didn't blend correctly or the bit of paint accidentally on the track or lights! just very frustrating when your troops look so much nicer....

The empire watchtower wasn't too enjoyable to paint.

I also made the mistake of fully assembling my Airfix 1:600 HMS Belfast prior to painting; don't get me wrong it's an amazing model but really ought to be painted in stages during building and I made it unnecessarily difficult. Worked out fine in the end though!

Old style Forge World Space Marine Drop Pods.. At least the newer GW ones are open in the centre, this bad boy was so annoying I'm not sure I even finished it properly I just did the basic paint job and left it at that.

There were so many sides and edges to the model it was like painting the Tardis..Never again!

City of Death = Spray Dark Grey, drybrush light grey...or am I missing something?

Stormvermin. Gotta get the glue on the halberd arm, the other arm, and then on the wrist where the hand on the halberd meets the second arm. All while maintaining pressure on the two arms in little sockets that you can't bloody well see AND THEN play WFB Jenga to find the right spots for them on their tray.

Christ, I haven't even STARTED painting yet.

OH, and the old metal Steam Tank. that noise.

I had a friend custom cast exta terminators arms out of a mix of tin and some other metal I cant name or identify, but I kept trying and trying to glue on the arms and they would fall off every gakking time I tried to paint them, even after they were dry. I don't paint terminators anymore becuase of how mad I got fom this incident, and I threw these models away I was so mad, and the glue ate up most of the models torso peices from where I stuck and restuck the arms so many times I even cried tears of rage I was so mad! So I think I would rather chop off my junk throw some lye on the wound, then procede to then spoon out my eyeballs, then I would pour gasoline on myself set then myself on fire and leap from a building before I paint those models again, ever!

Imperial Guard... The whole thing...

Understand me right; I love to paint them when they end up good and nice, but there is ALLWAYS more guardsmen/tanks/details to be painted... And then you realize, when you have been painting 3 tanks or 20 guardsmen you test something on the next because you're bored and it looks better than the thing you've done on the previous minis... So it's back to improve the "finished" models.

So, I've basicly given up on the idea to paint them in squads or one tank at the time. When I get the time to paint (on weekends only) I paint what I feel like. I have some finished sentinels and lone guardsmen, but that's about it...

Now I like the painting them in squads in a production line method idea, it means that you spend less time wading through the tedium of guardsmen.
