Don't worry, this isn't a Team NSFW thing.

I'm adding a load of enslaved humies to my Orks, using the WFB Crypt Ghouls as my basis. I'm thinking of sculpting on a few GS dogtags, to start us off, but looking for ideas for tattoos, vestigial cybernetics and so on that will identify them as being POWs that have been stripped of their humanity by the Runtherdz.

By way of example, I've heard about cranial studs denoting rank, but can't really remember if this is for anyone outside the Astartes.

Go take a quick look in the mirror naked, (Not sure of your physical fitness, so please don't be insulted by the next part) now imagine some muscle tone, and you have a guardsman naked.

Average Guardsmen are rarely augmented cybernetically. They'd just look like normal humans.

Only Astartes use studs to note rank and as for tatoos and cybernetics there is the classic eye but there is also half skulls, jaws, bionic limbs. and tatoos well just look outside at tatoos pick some or some warhammer symbols

I think they were more referring towards extra stuff, such as the tattoo's and bionics mentioned.

Ink is a pretty safe bet with military type folks, especially if you toss on some Aquila to the shoulders, maybe kill hash lines in the bicep area, hmm what else. Giant Aquila as a back piece maybe.

Scars would be pretty common as well I imagine. Bullet holes, laser burns, shrapnel wounds, think along those lines.

Probably going to facepalm after an obvious answer, but what's the classic eye?

That's the icon of the Inquisition, not the Imperium of Man.

Oooh, I kind of assumed that was an Inquisitorial insignia. Good call, a bunch of these and some Aquila and they'll look a lot less like Warhammer Undead and a lot more like seriously maltreated POW's

I don't see them as having any sort of augmetics as the mekboys or whoever would come along and pull them out for use by orks. That could lead to a bunch of prisoners with missing arms and eyes. Missing legs would probably not be there as they'd be killed as of no use.

Hmm, broken bionic eyes might look cool. With all the useful worky bitz taken away by the Meks.

Perhaps have a few carry around small trinkets of their former life (Photos, small radio) and have a few wearing helmets.

Broken arms in slings made of cloth, eyepatches using dirty clothing covering that side of their face.

You can always look up real life POW's, if you want to depress the out of yourself.

I reckon the eye thing will work, taking the 'empty sockets' head and switching a socket with a working eye on another head; add a wire coming out, and there's two formerly enhanced heads.

No bionic amputees, though; they simply wouldn't survive the holding pen, their dehumanised fellows would have eaten them by now.

No military equip, they're stripped of everything and anything of value and kept in a holding pen/pit. Might have the odd officer's hat here and there.

I think tattoos are a must have. As a military group, I think that regimental or squad based tatts would be particularly appropriate. Some kind of symbol along with whatever number the sub-group has been assigned makes an instant tattoo. (87th Vixens, 56th Firebrands, 3rd Hangmen, 227th Dragons) Aquilas are good, or some kind of representation of whatever their planet is, like a flag or national icon or whatnot. Hope this helps.

I wanna see how you make these slave POW's look awesome/pitiful! When/where must I watch? I definitely agree with the tattoo/serial number ideas. Dog tags would look cool on a few, possibly. You could have some Imperial Boots still on one or two of them. The stronger ones maybe coulda been able to hold onto them?

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

Picture a human naked and covered in ex-ganger, bar codes, imperial aquila, or unit tattoos to add a bit of flavor.

I use blue mixed with a bit of green over flesh to make tattoos.

you assumed right. The =I= is the symbol of the inquisition. So I'd refrain from using it as a tat unless you're doing Stormtrooper p.o.w's

The ][ alone is a symbol of the Imperium; minor variations on the default ][ can denominate specific groups.

Add three horizontal slashes and you get the symbol of the Inquisition, aka =][= . Take that generic ][ and superimpose a skull with a spiked corona in there and you get the symbol of the Ecclesiarchy. Adeptus Administratum is an ][ with a strange alpha-like glyph in there, Arbites get an ][ with a fist holding the scales of justice, Adeptus Astra Telepathica an ][ with an eyeball glyph, etc.

The ][ alone would likely be a suitable tattoo for a guardsman, but any of the more specific variations would be improper, at best- but more likely than not, HERESY!

On a related note, how good is the imperial army's dining? I mean, the guy'd be lean alright, but physically fit with muscle tones? If their chow is really good they might look on the heavy side, but if their chow is closer to renaissance armies in the field I'd expect a lean body with a lot of old-too-early-in-life weathering.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

If they are ork slaves, go look at some concentration camp pictures that oughta get the look across. (not trying to be offensive btw). Point is, orks care nothing about their slaves health and will just work them to death, if they don't get killed by the orks for the fun of it.

Otherwise, just fit humans.

They get decent nutrition when they are in the army, providing supplies get through.

In an ork camp they will have whatever scraps they can find.
