Just picked up the codex and have had a quick flick through it and im wondering whether its possible to make a decent shooty list? My thoughts being you dont see many shooty lists and maybe theres a reason for that. (Looking at you codex wide BS 2.)

There is such thing as quanity over quality never let a marine player tell you otherwise, when you have 15 lootas shooting on average 30 S7, Ap4, 48" range you don't mind 2 thirds missing same goes for shoota boys and tank busters.

Shooty lists are certainly viable in a flgs environment (meta dependant), just remember to bring enough anti tank and give all nobs power klaws.

Orks are not a close combat exclusive like most people tend to believe. Orks are just an horde army which can excel at one thing and one thing only. If you want to go for shooting them please do. I can see several ways to do this it just depends if you want your shooting to be mobile or not. BW with shoota boyz are one of the most competitive build for Orks.

It's not good or anything, but it sure would be fun to try out for fun some time. Another way to go is a shooty kan wall, since those are bs3.

Hmm that looks good. What about some flash gits? would they be better then the deffkoptas or just tack them on for 2k list?

I'd drop the flash gits for something else too many points for not enough bang

I love playing with Flash Gits. They are expensive and might not do much but they are fun none the less. Give them a try if you are interested in them. You might end up liking them.

I will. They do look like a bit of fun. Although you cant beat the lootas with their potential 45 S7 AP 4 shots... and with 3 squads that would equal 135 shots.

Orks can be very shooty.

Just remember, orks are gang-bangers. They use the "Spray and Pray" method of shooting. Put enough lead out there, and something will die.

Shoota boyz, Lootas, Flash Gitz, and don't forget warbikes! If you want to go that direction, and aren't concerned with being the most competitive player out there, Big Mek SAG and Looted Wagons w/Boomguns can be fun too!

Honestly big guns can be mean too. 9 kannons can be pretty stupid. But fun.

I would definitely keep the deffkoptas in though, they can be a great support unit for any ork army, especially with the twin-linked options they have. I'm not a big fan of the Flashgitz, but then again I haven't actually tried them out... wonder if I should...

I on the other hand haven't had really good things happen from deffkoptas. I don't seem to get my points back from them. I can never hit with there rokkits. *shrugs*

I do think they have very good potential but just haven't worked for me.

You should give those gits a try. They are pretty fun to use. Especially when you shoot at some terminators and you roll that 1/2 for AP. ha ha ha..

Concerning Flash Gitz:

25 Points. That's the cost of a nob(which they are) with 'eavy armor(which they have). They come equipped with a better gun. Str 5 AP d6 Assault 1. So 50% of the time, they deny MEQ their armor saves! 1/3 for terminators. At 5 points a model, you DOUBLE the firepower(More Dakka for Assault 2). You can make the AP d6 roll a -1 for another 5 points, but honestly, it's inefficient point-wise. It just may be worth it if you're playing marines that like terminators though. Load 10 Flash Gitz with all the goodies into a Battlewagon and tear 'em up. Expensive and not as efficient, but it's fun!

Well it is said, "Don't knock it till you've tried it." I will be keeping the deffkoptas in the list because they seem like nice cheap n' nasty flank defence/offence unit.

Good idea for an Ork amy. Convert them into Ork Crips or something.

I do like the idea of sending snotlings hurtling throught the warp. Big Meks seem pretty good on closer inspection.

Hmm it would seem as if Flashgits are a prime anti marine unit. Why do people not take them more often? Is it just because they are points inefficient?

Mainly, yes. They are too expensive for what they bring when you're playing competitively. Even with my points in mind, you can field 5 boyz for the price of one Flash Git. In addition, Flash Gitz take a Heavy Support choice, which is often for Battlewagons.

Big Gunz(artillery) are fun. Kannons are versatile and cheap. Lobbas are great ant-infantry. Zzap guns are AV specifically. I don't use the latter, but it all depends on personal taste and points.

Ah ok so flashgitz are mainly for when your goofing around not really bothering about the outcome? Just noticed that grots have a BS of 3 and are cheap as chips troops unit... hmm plans for a grot army are coming into existence

Yes Yeah the grot pilot gives the Kan a BS 3, which is why Kanz with rokkit launchas are effective. And Artillery. Artillery is easy to take down, but it fields larger guns cheaply, and with BS 3.
