I'll keep updating this once I get time to write up the rest of the games.

Played in Da Grand Waagh GT this past weekend. The tournament was a 2 day 5 game event at 1850pts. There was around 50 to 60 players, 5 of us from Team Zero Comp and around 8 more players that we play with on a semi regular basis. The judges kept us all away from each other for the first two rounds till points wouldn't allow for it. Which was nice, we rather play new faces. In the end Team Zero Comp took Best Overall, Best General and all 5 of us were in the top 10. Reece taking overall, and Christian taking Best General.

I've forgotten everyones names for the most part. But, if your reading this feel free to drop your name and your actual list, as im going off the top of my head. Also sorry for the lack of pictures, I once again forgot my camera :( But we did manage to talk some friends into walking around doing video battle reps. Which Im sure will be posted at a later time. Now, on to the battle reports.

I brought out my current Tourny build, fatecrusher daemons to the event. This has been the same list for the most part for the past year.

Mission 1
4 objectives. Players can only place one objective per table corner. 12 inchs from each other and 12 inches from table edges.

-Deployment-
Table Corners

-Bonus points-
1pt-Kill Highest point HQ
1pt-Kill Highest point unit
1pt(or 3pts- For controlling more objectives then your enemy.( Becomes 3 pts if you wipe your opponent.)

He won first turn kept it, and picked the corner to my upper right. He deployed his army, I rolled for my favored half, got it. And the game was on.

1st turn-
His landraider immobilized its self with the terminators near his table edge moving 12 into the corner to my upper left. That was really the only thing I was afraid of in this list, once it got immobilized that far away from where I wanted the battle to take place I was in a really good spot. His rhinos and vindies stayed pretty close to each other moving 18 on the road to my lower right corner. His terminators left the raider to try to run there way back into the game for a later turn.

I decided to place my stuff behind his rhinos and vindies near his deployment corner and my plague unit with icon to my lower left hand objective along with my seekers near by. Everything else landed near enough to run towards fateweaver. After some shooting I immobilized one of the vindies. Plague unit runs onto a objective.

2nd turn-
Dread did not come in. He did something somewhat odd to me. All his units disembarked their rhinos and moved into assault range of my crushers. his moveable vindie moved towards my plague unit and seekers. And his terminators moved (and ran in the shooting phase) in another attempt to get back into the game. He then shot all his pistols and meltaguns from all 3 units at my bloodcrushers causing only 2 or 3 wounds because of fateweavers awesomeness haha. One of his vindies shot the seekers killing 4, and the other shot the plague unit that went to ground and killed 1. He then assaulted my crushers with all 3 units including the champ. killed a crusher and did another wound. Then I prescended to kill a couple guys from each unit. winning combat by a couple. Then he lost a model or two from each unit from fearless saves.

Next turn my other herald comes in along with another plague unit. The herald comes off my plague icon, and the new plague unit comes off my crusher icon near another objective. My seekers go after his terminators, heralds fire everything destroying the immobilized vindie. He does nothing in the next assault phase and kill some more marines from each unit winning combat again. my seekers go crazy causing 6 or 7 rends and 5 wounds. He ends up rolling poorly and losing all the thunderhammer termies and 1 or 2 lighting claw termies. strikes back killing a few seekers. I lose combat and lose a couple more seekers. Leaving me with around 6 left.

3rd turn-
His Dread comes in near my plague unit with icon. He moves his last vindie near it aiming its cannon at my plague unit. His surviving rhinos move near each other popping shots at one of my heralds causing a wound or 2. He shots his vindie and dread at my plague unit they go to ground and only kills one again. My seekers kill 2 more terminators leaving one left and he wiffs but is still in combat after saves. I finally mop up all the marines send fateweaver towards the landraider, and the crushers towards the rhinos since there never going to get to the other side.

My fiends and other plague unit come in. Leaving my crushers still stuck in the warp . Fiends go off my plague icon in front of the dread in a attempt to protect them. Other plague unit comes off crushers icon and runs towards another objective. crushers go after the rhinos and the heralds along with fateweaver go landraider hunting. Both heralds do nothin to the raider, then fateweaver destroys it with his shot fiends run and make a wall infront of the plague unit. Crushers assault killing 2 rhinos and immoblizing the last one. At this point I have 3 objectives and I need to table him to gain full points

4th turn-
Vindie moves 12 again and fires at the plague unit with icon doing nothing. He then assaults into my fiends with his dread after failing to do anything in the shooting phase. I end up blowing it up. Along with finishing off the terminators and killing his last rhino since it couldnt move out of base contact. Seekers make their move towards the vindie.

Crushers finally come in but the game is over by now. They come off my plague units icon. and fateweaver along with the heralds go after the last vindie at range doing nothing. Seekers assault the vindie and fiends multi assault the vindie and droppod. I end up blowing them both up gaining full points after the first round.

Post Game thoughts and talk with other player.
- After the game I asked why he did a all out assault on my crushers. He said he thought he could take them on. I told him crushers with fateweaver behind them isnt to great a idea. especially when theres only 3 weapons that ingnore my armor ( the 3 fists) The champ went into base with fateweaver. In my opinion I think he was better off just running away. Crushers are slow, all you have to do is keep them away. Plus he was on a road, and could move way farther. Other then that, the landraider immobilizing itself first turn that far away saved me some pain. I didnt have to worry about it for a while. I didnt see my seekers doing to well against a unit that big of termies, I was more so trying to tie them up longer. But it worked.

Deployment
Triangle Deployment

He won the dice off and gave me first turn. He decided to leave everything in reserves, to see where I would land on my turn. I rolled against the gods once again, and once again got my half. Game on.

1st Turn-
fateweaver and friends land near each other centrally on the board and just out of about 12inchs to his deployment. and all units ran towards each other to gain fateweavers awesomeness haha.

His turn was done fast as everything was kept in reserve.

2nd Turn-
If I recall correctly. I get both plague units in, herald and other unit of crushers. They all pop up near my two icons. New crusher unit closer to the upper left corner. fiends behind them. plague unit join the other plaguebearers behind a wall . I spread out my seekers to be in range of anything deciding to come out of my right side.

He rolled reserves. Getting his warwalkers, wraithlord, wraithguard with a farseer and guardians. And deployed to my upper left hand side all the way in the corner. Warwalkers shot my bloodcrushers doing nothing. Wraithlord shot at my plague unit in a building killing one. wraithguard ran up a little behind a unusable bunker, but line of sight blocker. Now this is when it gets good. (For me atleast) He causes 14 wounds to my seekers that are not in cover but have one model within 6 of fateweaver and only killed 2 or 3 of them after I rolled 5s and 6s like a mad man.

3rd Turn-
The rest of my army comes in around the icons. fiends behind the crushers to my left. Everything nearer to that side moves towards the elder corner. Fateweaver following behind them all. seekers go after the guardians. Warwalkers being my number 1 target to destroy, I throw all my shooting at them blowing 2 of them up. Leaving fateweaver to roam around a little safer Seekers end up winning combat against the guardians but took a huge blow in return leaving only around 6 or 7 left.

Everything else in his army comes in from reserves. His 2 wave serpents turbo boost 24 to my right near the outside board edge. Warwalker shoots at my main HQ for bonus points causing 4 wounds, and almost killing it out right. wraithlord threw some pop shots into my crushers causing a wound.

4th Turn-
The herald with one wound left turbo boosts behind a wall. The other, goes wave serpent hunting. Leaving one of the crushers unit running towards my lower right in a attempt to someday catch those wave serpents (not) lol. Crushers, fiends and fateweaver move closer to the elder corner. And seekers stay in a building to stay alive. Fiends end up being out of range for the multi assault onto the wraithlord but kill off the last warwalker. Leaving my fiends and crushers right in the elder players face and within 6 of fateweaver.

He turboboost his 2 wave serpents again further up the field into my lower right corner to stay away from everything. His wraithlord shoots everything at the fiends killing one. And wraithguard shoot everything at the crushers causing a few wounds. They both charge their targets as its better to assault me then have me assault you. And there was no where else to run. I was a bit surprised he didnt do it a little differently and have the wraithlord shoot and assault the crushers instead to help out the wraithguard. Fiends wiffed against the wraithlord causing no rends, and the crushers won combat but stayed lock in.

5th Turn-
The herald with one wound, again turbo boosts farther away from the wave serpents behind other walls. The other takes a pop shot at the wave serpent doing nothing. fateweaver trys to spawn the farseer doing nothing. then joins in on the fun. This time i kill off the wraithlord with the fiends. I win combat against the wraithguard again but theres still a good amount of them there. about 5 or 6 left along with the farseeer.

Wave Serpents move up again shooting at the visible herald doing nothing. I win combat again with the wraithguard but there still there haha.

6th Turn- (Game was a auto 6 turn game)
Wasnt much to do really. I took my herald out of hiding as it didnt really hurt my standings if he died. They both shot at one of the wave serpents causing nothing. I finally finish up the wraithguard with the help of the fiends. And its basically game at this point.

To get a couple more points with the lose. He moves towards the wounded herald with both wave serpents and unload there troops finally killing it. I win with 16 out of 20 points because I couldnt kill his named general which was in one of the wave serpents.

Post Game Thoughts and talk with other player.
After a bit of talking on how the game went, I explained to him him those warwalkers should have been shooting at fateweaver both times they had a chance to shoot. They were my number 1 target haha. Other then that it was a good game. I think he should have kept moving those wraithgaurd up the left flank. My crushers would have never caught up. Fiends would have but wouldnt have been able to hold there own against a full squad of wraithguard.

Mission 3

Bonus Points
2pt- Rogue Trader is alive, or makes it across the opponents table edge.
2pt-Kill Highest point unit

Deployment
Pitched battle. 12inch

I won the dice off, and gave him first turn denying him of a turn of shooting. He deploys everything pretty spread out with a long fang squad on each side and 1 in the middle. I roll for my half which i changed to encluded both squads of blood crushers this time around, and once again get what i want.

1st Turn-
he moves up a little to take up more of the table.

I deployment everything to my right side since there is a huge line of sight blocking piece of terrain where i can hide from atleast 10 of the missiles. I decided to play pretty aggressively and tried to deploy my first unit of crushers pretty close they mishap and i roll a 3. He sticks them in my lower left hand corner. They run in the shooting phase. I place my next unit in the same spot and they land. everything else lands pretty close by. I destroy a tank and kill some long fangs with my shooting.

2nd turn-
Both lone wolves go towards the crushers. After everything shoots i have about 4 crushers left, fateweaver lives thru the first volley. Only one lone wolve makes combat and somehow holds my crushers in assault with a wound left as my crushers wiff

my fiends, herald, and 1 plague unit make it in. the plague unit hops off the other plagues unit icon behind the hill. and the fiends land in terrain off the crushers icon. fateweaver decides to jump into the mist of battle and kills off a long fang unit as well as a razorback. Heralds miss everything. I kill off his lone wolve and move into cover near by with fateweaver and the fiends.

3rd turn-
A lot of his grey hunters come out ready to assault and shoot at fateweaver and the crushers. His rune prist goes solo in a attempt to jaws fateweaver he misses and he is now in the open. He ends up killing fateweaver and leaving 3 crushers left and assaults with his other lone wolve. Which again ties my crushers up in combat haha.

Everything else in my army comes in. all the troops stay together behind the hill. The other crusher unit moves up again and is now looking like they might make a appearance soon next turn. I start opening up some more razorbacks and rhinos with my shooting. 1 of my heralds goes after the priest doing 1 wound then assaulting. fiends assault another rhino and a squad. Herald gets locked in with the priest and the fiends blow up another rhino and get tied in with the grey hunters. I kill the lone wolve again, and again can take another turn of shooting with there perfect timing haha. Damn them.

4th turn-
More grey hunters come out to play and finish off the crushers and fiends in combat. my herald also gets charged but kills off the rune priest as he dies. my other unit of crushers takes a couple wounds from all his missles. Seekers get scraped by frag missiles and basically get taken out of the game not enough to do anything.

At this point its not looking to good, but in the back of my mind I only have 10 Kps and he has a ASS load. With things not looking to good I start going after easy kill points. I send my surviving crushers after 2 razorbacks instead of going after the long fangs and risking not making assault. I destroy one. my other herald takes out a rhino. and the surviving seekers attempt to take out another rhino but wiff. All 3 of my plague units are hanging out behind of the hill still.

5th Turn-
He finisihs up my crushers, seekers and herald. Leaving me with my 3 units of plaguebearers. The remaining grey hunter units go after them and make assault. I live thru the assault.

I join in on the fight with the rest of my plaguebearers and kill off the grey hunters. I run back behind the hill.

6th Turn-
Another unit makes assault 2 5 mans. And once again my units live thru it.

I charge in with my remaining unit and kill off one of the smaller 5 man units. All i have left is 4 plague bearers from 2 units.
We count up kill points and im up by 1 after counting up the kps and rogue traders. But still a draw as you have to win by 2.

Post Game thoughts and talk with other player.
After fateweaver died and he started hammering down all my units. I knew it wasnt my game anymore and id have to start taken out easy kill points rather then trying to survive haha. Good game as aways between us. After the first day I have 2 wins a tie. leaving me at about 50 BPs.

Mission 4
3 objectives. One in the middle of the board, and 1 in each deployment zone 12inchs from each board edge near to it. Reserve rolls are made on turn 3 instead of 2.

Deployment
Modified table corners.

I win the dice off and give him first turn to take a turn of shooting away. I roll for my wave again and once again i get it. Thats 4 for 4 so far in the tournament.

1st Turn-
2 droppods come in. One landing in the objective in his corner the other in the middle of the table.

Fateweaver scatters kind of far away, so all my other models have to kind of land near him towards the middle but in my "deployment area". plague unit lands on my objective in my corner in the back.

2nd Turn-
His TWC move closer to try to get a assault off on the crushers and roll a 1 on there fleet. All the long fangs unload on the crushers causing a wound. He was rolling poorly.

Since none of my stuff can come in yet, I move up the middle towards the middle objective and grey hunter unit. After Some shooting I kill a long fang, then assault the grey hunter squad with my seekers and crushers. Killing all of them and getting another move closer to him. I make a wall with my crushers so he cant assault past them.

3rd turn-
His other drop pod lands on top of my objective 1 inch away from my plague unit in my corner. TWC move up close to my crushers, and I once again take the next volley of long fangs taking a couple wounds. TWC assault the crushers with fateweaver behind killing 2 and causing some wounds. I fight back doing 1 wound to the powerfist lord. I lose combat and get tied in.

Crushers, and both my plague units come in off the plague units icon near the new grey hunter unit. my seekers run up the field in a attempt to assault one of the long fang squads. Herald once again does nothin against the droppod. fateweaver trys to turn one of the lords into a Spawn... and DOES . He then joins in on the fun with the remaining two. Seekers fail to charge and are left sittin in the open. This is where I make my first mistake, I charge my large unit of plague bearers into his grey hunters in a attempt to hold them back a turn. banner gets popped, and wolfin goes crazy. The whole unit gets killed. I end up winning combat against the TWC they flee 13 inchs towards his table edge only to regroup for next turn Fateweaver gets a 6in move enabling himself to reach the seekers so there not totally screwed and is still within range of the remaining 3 crushers after there move.

4th Turn-
TWC regroup and move back toward the small crusher unit. Rune priest breaks off the unit in a attempt to jaws a couple of the central plague unit and some crushers and fails. grey hunters move in on the plague unit after some shooting. And most other then 3 or 4 seekers are left after a lot of fragin from the long fangs. He charges my crushers killing one, I do another wound to the powerfist TWC. And he kills off all but one plaguebearer in assault, leaving me with only 2 troop units left, 1 of which is only dead.

Everything else comes on. fiends land behind the small crusher unit and make a wall infront of the plague unit after a good run move. My other crusher unit moves in on the grey hunters in a attempt to save my last plague bearer. Heralds do nothing to any of drop pods again. seekers decided to help out on the TWC and fateweaver leaves the crushers and goes after a long fang unit and the grey hunter unit on his objective. I multi assault the rune priest and grey hunters with the crushers killing them all but they still maintain to kill off my plaguebearer since i assaulted thru cover allowing them to strike first. he kills off all the seekers does nothing to my crusher, who then dies to fearless saves . Luckily I was prepared for something like that and walled up around my objective with the fiends. fateweaver kills all but one long fang and they stay tied in.

5th turn-
His TWC assault into my fiends, and his last grey hunter unit assaults fateweaver for a last ditch effort to kill him and keep him away from the object. fiends kill the powerfirst TWC and stay locked in. Fateweaver somehow wins combat against the grey hunters causing them to flee haha, but is still tied in with the last long fang.

We looked over the field and basically it came down to me killing the drop pod on my central objective to win it. Or we tie. With that said Both heralds once again shot at it. And once again they both wiffed . With that said we tie.

Post Game thoughts and talk with other player
I made a couple of mistakes this game after looking back on it. First came with my seekers, I should have came in and reinforced my crushers in the beginning instead of trying to go for the long shot and hitting the long fangs. Second mistake was assaulting the grey hunters with my plague unit. Which I knew was a bad idea to begin with haha. And last but not least, once again forgetting that my fiends have hit and run haha. I could have hit and run off the last lord and recharged into the TWC as well as the drop pod. Other then that it was a great game, great opponent.

Mission 5
16 inch deployment I believe. And the whole point of the mission was to have more scoring units in the other persons deployment zone then them at the end of the game.

I won the dice roll and gave him first turn. And once again got my half. (I went 5 and 5 this tournament against the gods, Last GT I got my half once :(

1st Turn-
He kept his expensive HQ unit in reserves. and moved up the field a little.

All my units but my herald land to my upper left hand corner and run towards each other to gain rerolls. My herald lands to my lower right and takes a couple pop shots at one of the devilfish doing nothing.

2nd Turn-
His super unit comes in on a 2 plus. And shoots up my seekers killing all but about 5 or 6. Both devilfishs move flat out towards my deployment. Everything else shoots at the crushers causing a couple wounds.

I get everything but crushers. Everything goes after the devilfishs. All my plague units pop up off my plagues unit icon and are all in his deployment. After some shooting I blow up one of the devilfishs killing all but 1 guy inside. And do nothing to the other. I then charge the single guy and the other devilfish with my crushers. and charge the seekers into the same target. i end up blowing it up as well killing 3 guys and making them run. Game is looking highly in my favor.

3rd Turn-
Troop unit falls back again because they're still within 6. His super unit moves up in assault range to my crushers. He shoots up fateweaver causing 4 wounds. I fail all 4 and reroll it, failing 3 out of the 4... fateweaver dies and the tables turn haha. He then unloads everything into the crushers killing all but 3. He then charges into them and the remaining seekers killing everything and begins to move towards my troops.

My crushers still stay out of the game fiends say F that and go after the broadsides since they're the closest thing to my plague units in that corner. heralds move together unloading everything onto the super unit killing some drones and causing a wound or 2. Fiends assault the broadsides winning combat and making them run off the board. they get a 1 and stay there within assault range of the super unit.

4th turn.
his super unit goes after the fiends. killing 2 or 3 with shooting then charging them and killing them off. moving them closer to my plague unit.

Crushers decide to still not come in haha. My 3 plague units make a run for the corner while still gaining a cover save from the building. heralds move up unloading everything on the suits again killing some more drones and causing a wound or 2.

5th turn-
he moves towards the plague units with everything. unloads everything 1 of my units goes to ground and loses 2 models. he moves closer with his assault moves.

Crushers auto come in off my icon and land into the building in a attempt to make the suits stay away. The other 2 troop units move farther away up the field but stay in the deployment. heralds come up again unloading everything and causing a wound or 2. crushers run making a wall infront of all the plague units.

6th turn-
he moves closer with everything and once again unloads everything into my troops. I lose all but 1 in the smaller unit after going to ground. and making a ass load of 3 plus cover/ 4 plus feel no pain saves.after his assault moves he blocks charge with his drones and other suit unit to his super unit from my crushers.

We end up calling it before my turn. However someone comes up explaining that the game is actually a tie because the deployment is 6 inchs from the sides of the board. We look at each other and say wow lol. He tells me I cant have my turn then after some more talk tells me he was joking with me and allows me to move my plague unit into 6 grabbing the win. ( we play at the same game stores so we know each other.) He could have easily gotten away with pulling the No we called the game you dont get your turn card. But he was nice enough to allow me to do my turn.

Post Game thoughts and talk with other player.
Fateweaver dieing like a chump charged the tables in that game pretty quick. It was looking really good for me till that happened. I think my only real big mistake was not going after the super unit with my crushers instead of assaulting the devilfishs. Fateweaver would have more then likely been able to join in with them. I kind of doubted the units ability because they were tau. But, I will never doubt them again haha.

They had them posted after the awards. Not sure if there online yet. I placed 7th overall.

That is weird that he would assault the Blood Crushers.

I would have started my Dread on the Board and tried to tie them up with him. There are only a handful of units in the game that can go toe-to-toe with Crushers and not get wiped out.

A lot of people just don't know how to play Daemons, especially Fatecrusher. You have to kill Big Bird right away, and figure out a way to either neutralize or get away from the Crushers or you are screwed.

Well played though, Will! 7th place is awesome.

Congrats on 7th, always like seeing Daemons doing well.

On a side note, the only combat I've won vs Crushers was a 43 Man IG Blob with 2 Commisars and a Priest in the back that I used FTHoC on them for FC + Fearless ^^

Yeah, that could work!

I have only ever seen them beaten in combat when they are outside of Fateweaver's radius of annoying by units that can do either massive amounts of wounds, ignore their attacks, or ignore their armor.

Things like Blood Claw Furiosos, Death Company with lemartes, or TH/SS termies. Most anything else just gets chopped to bits.

Wow...you caught a big break when your BT opponent immobilized his LR on Turn 1. Looks like he under-estimated your BC's. Unfortunately, there wasn't much he can do against the Big Chicken....he just didn't have enough shooting to take it down. Rarely will MEQ's out-assault daemons unless they're the grey knights. And death company can just be led around by a tzeentch herald or other deepstriking, rage-leading cheap units.

Don't forget the grey knights. A combo charge with dreadknight and any other GK unit can spell disaster to crushers.

Thats if you get a combo off... and a smart opponent won't let it happen! If crushers get the charge on a DK (which again, a smart opponent won't let happen) its doomed

@jy2

Yeah, Knights can spank Crushers in combat, very true. If they have halbreds and get hammerhand off, they can be brutal, but if the Crushers charge they will rape the little MSU squads of GKs you most often see.

@Zid

Yeah, Crushers still pimp slap Dreadknights if they assault. It's tough though as often those knights are faster.

Not really. Crushers charge dreadknight. DK casts Dark Excommunication and now the BC's are without Iron Hide (no 3+ armor) and Hellblades (no power weapons). The DK will tarpit the BC's while the other GK's will help to take them out.

Then again, the times when I played against daemons, one time it was with paladins and a dreadknight and the other time was with a dreadknight and interceptors. With personal teleporters on the DK, I can usually get the charge off and lock up those crushers so that my other units can get the charge.

Don't forget, psyk-out grenades reduce them to I1 and then you're attacking with S5 power weapons with re-rolls to hit. Charge them with numbers and you can potentially wipe them out.

Hellblades are a daemonic gift? Ouch.

Good thing you don't see Dreadknights that often. Some of the powers in that book are soooooooooooo broken against Daemons it is stupid. It is unfun.

Yeah. The new GK's could be stupid good when going up against daemons depending on the type of build they bring. When I take my interceptor-knights, I don't even use Warp Quake against them.

I don't consider dreadknights to be competitive so I only use them in my fun lists. I also run interceptors for my fun list (and purifier-dreads for my competitive one). Ironically against daemons, my "fun" list is nastier against them than my "competitive" one.

Yeah I agree. Most players don't use Strike Squads, Interceptors or Dread Knights.

Purifiers, and Psfilmen aren't nearly as good against Daemons.

Warp Quake and Dark Excommunication are so dumb. I wonder what the logic behind it was? Sure Grey Knights should be good against Daemons, but the Daemon player should at least be able to play the game for crying out loud.

Didn't know hellblades were counted as a gift :( I don't have my dex to dispute it either way... but yeah, on that note, probably would get tooled over Daemons BETTER get some psyker defense next dex... it really makes no sense if they don't!

Grey Knights are anti-daemons. It's like Ward wrote in an auto-win button. So much for maintaining balance between other armies.

Cool to see that the GK gets their ass owned, but how is that possible? GK is only made for killing deamons. Good game report though, love to read more!

GKs do get their butt handed to them from time to time, but rarely by daemons my friend.

This batrep was against BT, and Will did get lucky with the immoblized land raider. However, you cannot deny shear tactics and skill when it comes to capitalizing off it. Congrats on the win and placing 7th.

Ya, he was a little all over the place to begin with. He shouldnt have split up his army like that.

Capitalizing on mistakes is how games are won or lost; and with Daemons any little mistake can be a big boon I still don't get why the writer made our dex have to come in in waves... ugh. WTB new dex

Yeah, your game 2 opponent said he didn't know Daemons very well. He shouldn't have reserved. Had he deployed he could have wasted Space Chicken first turn with all that flak fire, and guide and doom.

He got frustrated with your army but really, it was his inexperience that cost him. He had the tools to win. I am sure next time that he plays Daemons he will know what to do and have better results.

Stave Stiff is solid, so it doesn't surprise me that he tied you. Well, anytime we play guys on our team we know it will be tough as we play each other all the time! Haha.

@Zid
Agreed. Daemons should have the OPTION to deepstrike any unit. They shouldn't be required to.

Im aware a lot of people dont have much experience against daemons. Which is why before every game I explain what each unit does in my list. Stats, special abilities all that haha. In the end though, it really does come to in game experience, what might not look to crazy on paper sometimes out performers its self in game.

Like my seekers, I've been on the wall about dropping them for some time now. But every once in a while they go crazy and make me rethink everything haha. I might have to for the big bird list though.

Seekers are nice due to volume of attacks; they're fragile, but chomp. Personally I prefer Hounds (str 5 on charge at I5, 3 attacks each, T4, and are beasts) over seekers, but for your list it seems to work well. I like running as many bolts as I can and fiends/thirster to punch crap in the head as most opponents who know daemons will typically focus on my bolt units first to keep their mech going.

@ Reece:

While I appreciate the "everything deepstrikes" as its fluffy, the fact that you have a 33% chance to get boned is just... lame. On top of that, having no way to manipulate reserves and only getting half of your army turn 1 (and most things in the Dex aren't that resiliant in the first place) just seems.. dumb. I honestly feel the new dex should have heralds add +1 to rolls for their gods units to come in, if they stay with the deep striking stuff. Also, icons being 25 pts...? Chaos marines get undivided ones for 5 pts! And their lessers can charge on the drop! Arg... Obviously sore about CD's haha! I love my army of them, but I don't even want to place them on the table around here after getting owned by stupid venomthropes in two games :(

That is a good idea, a +1 to reserves if you have a herald, that is a good mechanic and it is cool fluff wise.

Yeah, no other deep striking armies have to roll to see if they get what they want. Imagine if DoA armies had to do that! Haha. Or Drop Pod marines.

It is a crappy mechanic, IMO.

Aye; poorly thought out. I suppose they felt an army full of invun saves was OP.... too bad everything in the army basically gets plowed by any amount of focused fire -_-

Italiaplaya,

I was your second opponent at the Grand Waagh playing Eldar. As Daemons are such a rare army these days (in tournaments) I haven't had much experience playing against them so couldn't agree more regarding your after game advice that I should of dumped 24 scatter laser shots into Fateweaver to take him off the board ASAP. I knew pinning myself into the lower right corner was a bad idea but after your deployment and subsequent 2nd round of movement I was definitely feeling a bit of a pinch. There is little doubt that I was given a sound schooling in how not to fight an army like your Fatecrusher list. In all honestly you played a near flawless game and after the 3rd round I was more or less playing defensively. It wasn't hard to read the battlefield and see what was about to unfold. I had a chance to chat with Reese after the game and he pretty much agreed with my self-assessment. I might of had the tools to win the game but I just failed to utilize them properly. I would like to state that although it was the only game I lost during the Grand Waagh it was an enjoyable round. You were an honorable and humble opponent.

YES! I am liking the spirit here. I am one of those guys who started going to tournaments so I could get a variety of opponents so that I can experience what every army has to offer. This attitude is exactly what I bring to every game and I wish others would too! I applaud you sir.

Although a tough loss, you walked away with experience on how to play against Daemons.
