Subject: Terra Nova:Terra Fail? Terra Awesome? Pterodactyl?
I was bored so I checked the season premier of this series out last night.
Poor man's Jurrassic Park?
The setup in the first half was slow, but needed I guess. Finally got a little dino action in the second half. The dino ripping the guy out of the gun turret on top of the rover was the best part.
Anyone love it?
Thoughts on where this is going?

I thought it was a decent watch, which is nice since Ive got nothing on Mondays worth watching, unless I get lucky on the History Channel. I set a record on the show to see where it goes. And yea, the dino eating the gunner was awesome, Ill give them that

Poor man's Jurrassic Park mixed with a little Stargate? Time travel portals and mysterious runes/glyphs on rocks...
The dino special effects are weak compared to JP, but I suppose budget issues account for that, still JP came out a long time ago...
Acting was painful at times, and the guy from Avatar seemed to have put on his teenage son's t-shirt. I don't think he is gonna be able to carry this show despite the "cool/badass" factor I assume they thought he would bring.

As a lover of both Jurrasic Park and Stargate i am really hoping this is gonna be good. It appears though that most people aren't fans...
I liked the first episode. Waiting to see how the next few episodes go before I give a verdict. As I watch a lot of television, it is hard for me to judge a show just by the first episode. A lot of shows have really slow pilots, but turn out great.

You should watch it and pay attention this time. Those were not runes/glyphs.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I wouldnt say they were bullet proof, it really depends on how many rounds it would take if we knew the size of the bullets in question. I know that if you dont shoot a bear where your supposed to, specially with to small a round, it will just get mad and want to eat you. And dinosaurs are ALOT bigger/stronger/tougher then a bear is, and if they are pumping small caliber rounds into them...they are gunna have problems going down. Granted, some scenes they pumped ALOT of rounds into those dinos
Sounds like they should of had a word with 2000AD and got permission to turn their comic strip called "Flesh" into a series. That would of been cooler. You get past and future locations as well as dinosaurs.

Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Looking at the previews they are using small caliber rapid firing firearms, i only looked briefly but they appear to be some type of automatic rifle shooting a 223. Against big game a smaller number of high caliber rounds will do more than a larger number of small caliber rounds. A couple of 7.62 by 54mm hollow point round should drop a large dino, or a 50 caliber hollow point round for the largest dinos. Hollow points are ok because theses guys are not military and they went back in time before the Geneva convention so hollow point bans in warfare went into effect. In short the protagonists are dumb, and I just opened a can of worms and every gun nut that knows more about firearms than me is bout to jump in with their 2 cents.
Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.
So I started watching it about half-way in so I don't want to judge the plot or the actors for the characters they may or may not be portraying.
BUT I do have to say the vehicles look rediculous and the action scenes don't want to decide if they want to use puppets or subpar CGI. Seemingly bullet-proof dinos were also an annoyance and the weapons are fired as if they WANT to take advantage of the extremely choppy action scenes to not add in firing effects.

semantics. The girl mentions they are formulas/equations. Point being they are mysterious writings and symbols found on the rocks...
Maybe the sixers are trying to open/use more time travel gateways, etc.? Maybe when they dissapeared en route to Terra Nova they went to a time/place even cooler?
Regardless, Im hopin for cooler, more frequent dino action, and I already want a few characters killed off (starting with the son's "girlfriend").

Never seen it but it sounds stupid.
The original Jurassic Park was an awesome movie. Awesome movies involving dinosaurs that came before Jurassic Park? The Land Before Time. All others-fail. Awesome movies involving dinosaurs following Jurassic Park? Fail. A show about dinosaurs? Must be a fail. Rex from Toy Story? Win.
All I could think of when I saw the previews for it(have yet to watch it, though) was that they were attempting a new Earth 2. We all know how THAT one turned out.

Way to many plot holes and Tv sillyness for me and im a sucker for scifi, im guessing that the lack of a adult sexy chick means its not meant for adult males to watch.
