Jurassic Park is my favourite movie of all time, I like the other two but the had nothing on the first. And the first film has nothing on the book!
Now I have seen a few shows involving dinos and they have been rather hit and miss so I am willing to give Terra Nova a go, but if it turns out even half as bad as its it's been made out to be then I will not be a happy dino nut!

semantics. The girl mentions they are formulas/equations. Point being they are mysterious writings and symbols found on the rocks...
Maybe the sixers are trying to open/use more time travel gateways, etc.? Maybe when they dissapeared en route to Terra Nova they went to a time/place even cooler?
Regardless, Im hopin for cooler, more frequent dino action, and I already want a few characters killed off (starting with the son's "girlfriend").
[Shrug]
The Sixers aren't doing anything with the formulas/writings/symbols.
It's the son of the leader of Terra Nova, who apparently wandered into the wilderness and writes them at the waterfall as a big F-U to his dad.
^ That. Seriously, it explains it all in the episode.
They are using Tranquilizers, not bullets. They say this when they are on their way to save the kids. "Aim for the underside of the Slashers, their skin is softer and the tranqs can go in." or something along those lines.
It saddens me when people cant catch on to things.

Although the nerd in me wants to scream out about this sees ripping a huge hole in the Time flow, I'm giving it a chance as it's been awhile since there was a good JP like series out. Effects can be excused if the plot holds out.

The cast isn't helping either.

It was a PILOT episode people, its not going to be perfect or have all the plot lines neatly woven together. Let alone time for the actors to really get into thier characters. Give it a few episodes and see if it gets better.
Even if it gets better, heck, even if it gets great, theres like a 90% chance FOX will cancel it as soon as people start to like it. (would be 97% if Joss Whedon was involved lol)

Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D!
Plus, there was that movie in 2000 named Dinosaur.
There's a few others and I promise they're not all SyFy Channel original "movies" and Land Before Time DTV sequels.

15 minutes in, the main characters (the family) are caught with overpopulating the Earth (having more than 2 kids). The father is arrested after the third child is found.
Time skip to him in jail- somehow...not only does he manage to escape a MAXIMUM SECURITY LOOKING PRISON, but the THIRD CHILD IS STILL ALIVE?????
For a LAW designed to LIMIT POPULATION GROWTH...why do they still allow the THIRD CHILD to continue existing???

For a society that sends uniformed men to check if you have extra kids in a world that is overpopulated and dying, I highly doubt that cops in that era would only fine you.
"Here is a fine for that extra kid. We'll be back next week to check if you have gotten rid of it. Otherwise, the penalty is double for a second offense."
Seriously...either way you interpret it, the show handled the concept poorly. A fine for procreating over the legal limit? And what if the kid is still there? Another fine? How do you correct that cycle of punishment other than the logical ending short of revolting against the society: get rid of the kid.

She's going to command their armies and kill all the Buggers?
I watched it. I was pretty disappointed, as the concept seemed pretty fun. I had hoped for more dinosaur violence (preferably without the silly made-up dinos) and less forced drama. The bad acting is acceptable within reasonable bounds provided that it is made up for with the application of more dinosaur violence. Or even just more dinosaurs in general would be nice.
I'll probably watch another couple episodes to give it a chance, but I'm not too hopeful about it at this point.

Yes but thats just assuming its going to be hella bad. The son tied that one up as mentioned. "Probably would of been fined" However much I agree with you, in a time like that on Earth, people wont be fined for stupid gak like that, they would be killed

Yeah, police states are usually so cool about you attacking government agents.

I know, because current existing states with population growth laws automatically execute children past the pop. Well, except that they don't and they just fine you pretty damn severely for it and get put on the government's gak list which is like only 99% similar to what happened in the show but you know, PLOTHOLE!
Although the nerd in me wants to scream out about this sees ripping a huge hole in the Time flow,
If only they'd had the nerdy older daughter of the family spend three minutes exposition dumping in our faces about how they confirmed that they're in a new time stream and not the exact same one. That really would have cleared things up. Heck, they could have even had her do it at the foot of the monument with the device they sent through to confirm it was a different time stream, maybe while the youngest daughter carved her name on the monument like so many other people and the oldest brother looked on in annoyance.

Bingo. The first 5 minutes of the show is basically a carbon copy of what currently happens in China.
Large cash fine for the third child, but mess with the police and you're likely to be thrown into a gulag and forgotten about.

Are the dinosaurs going extinct again? Or are the humans on the verge of destruction still behaving like 2011 hippies?

I admit i skipped through the show and only watched when i hear action lol...
Buttttttttttt how did they explain all the guns been outfitted with tranq shots?
How do they know it works to produce so many ( because tran is way harder to make than bullets )
Finally if they have done all the HW, why arnt they smart enough to make one that can do SOMETHING.
Its like.... the opposite version of plot armor.
What would this be called.... plot useless ammo

Sorry I debunked your very misleading first post. I know it may seem like I am being a jerk, but really I was just pointing out your errors. So people looking at this as a review can see what is actually up with the show.
