So before anyone says it, I am aware that this doesn't neccesarily mean that they are definitely the next codex/army book, and I am aware that WD is produced about 5-6 months in advance, however having just left Lenton I thought I'd update you guys with the models not currently on display as a *possible* indication of what's *potentially* coming.

Hope that's clear enough!

So 40k wise, Necrons, Black Templars and Chaos Space Marines are all currently "on campaign".

And WFB wise Empire, Vampires and Dwarfs are all currently missing too.

Make of that what you will.

On a side note, GW have changed the little notices stating that the models are on campaign to include the fact that they could be seen in an upcoming WD or Web Article.

vampires??
Maybe the dwarfs are being redone (it's been a while has it?) and are fighting the vamps in a battle report.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I guess it makes sense that Black Templar would be the Space Marine codex to come out after Necrons.

Runnin up on ya.

I wish. Tau were "On campaign" a few months ago.

*sigh*

Maybe they'll stay on campaign until 7th edition.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

So the mentioned armies have this notice, then?

And any specificity as to how soon "upcoming" is?

Their notes said that when I was there months ago, they are either 'on campaign' or are being used for photography. They could simply be using them for a battle report, they aren't necessarily the army that is being re-done. And it's just been Gamesday, were they taken there for any reason?

But the note itself actually says something along the lines of "Keep a look out as they may appear in an upcoming WD or Web article" and not what it used to say about them being used for photography.

And yes all above armies featured this notice, but no idea when or if they are appearing in WD.

This gets tossed around the internet every few weeks or so.

It could mean any number of things. From new photos being taken for packaging, to WD, to complete army overhaul.

In short.. it doesn't neccessarilly mean anything special, but it definitely means someone is doing SOMETHING with the models. Though it could literally just be dusting them off.

Isn't that what you really mean?

I'm guessing BT are probably going to be the overly outdated army that Necron are pitted against in WD so they can win easily.

I think it's about 3 months between a magazine's production and its actual release. That means look for things in WD in 3 months with those armies, or, god willing, in a codex a while after that.

There are Necron VS BT pics in the old codex, so maybe they're doing them again as a tie in to the old codex/new release. In fact they are the only marine chapter the necrons are shown fighting in the dex (pics wise).

I have been hearing the Templars are due for a December release so that actually makes sense heh. The Chaos space marine thing would be neat. Tie the fantasy part into Harrys and Kroots rumors on another page and this really does all tie together. it also means that GW is releasing armies on an unprecidented scale and speed from anything I can remember.

GW never has new releases in December, at least not army launches. January maybe, but I've heard nothing about them.

The LR being ventilated by a through and through Heavy Destroyer blast, no less. Let's hope the Necrons get such a powerful weapon... God knows the Flayer doesn't live up to its name...

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

It can already do that, though gamewise it's just a lascannon The difference is that it doesn't deviate any en route. A bit more heavy weapons punch would be really nice though

Well I believe you were on the ball last time this happened Decapitator - I think this may well be one of the most reliable indicators now in terms of what is coming next, now that GW is operating a no spoilers policy.

And the models that are missing certainly make sense - we know that Necrons and VC are just around the corner, Black Templars and Dwarves would also be logical in terms of what comes after, as well as Chaos Marines as the starter race for the new 40k.

Such a good memory! Thanks Pacific, you've brightened my day.

I wasn't going to say anything because I didn't think anyone would remember, but last time was pretty much spot on from what I recall.

However it's not like I *do* anything other than use my eyes and then post, but still I think you may be right. This *indicator* may well have become more valid in recent months.

As Brother SRM said, a December release would be a departure from their previous schedule. I'm not saying they won't or that I wouldn't yell "scree!" like a school girl if they did, but I'm not going to put money on it happening.

Maybe I should have preceeded this with the fact that this was something I had heard several months ago. I discounted it after a while because there were no follow up rumors. The OP comments brought this back up as a possible. A rules updated codex and possible one or two models would pretty much handle the release. I agree that Jan makes more sense but heck...this is GW ya know hehe.

I was there the day before GD UK...
All the Necron Figures and mid sized critters were in the case, the Monoliths were the only thing missing.

Also the DA were gone as well as a good bit of the BT stuff.
Selected Chaos marines too. The daemons all seemed to be in place.

Some IG and Nid stuff was missing though.
