Hey guyz!

Okay, so my birthday just passed, and so i got some money that i want to use to do a challenge.

The Challenge: Make a SM army to hopefully get around 1500 pts only using $200ish US dollars.

For this challenge, i wanted to do a SM chapter that is not done very much, so for this, i choose: The Knights of Gryphonne. (Or as i will be referring to them as KoG).

So, onto the project!
.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

As it stands right now, i have partialy painted up 2 test models, 1 with white primer, the other with black.
pictures!
White Primer:

And Black...

Both of these were painted with the same paints so far: Solas Mechicus Orange (or whatever that foundation paints name is) And then Gryphonne Sepia wash (Ironic, no?)
So, which do you think looks best? the White or the black primer?

Because they are not a very well known chapter. they do not have much fluff at all. (here is there page http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Knights_of_Gryphonne#.ToyKNf5Cq0s ). So, i will need your peoples help on dececiding what i should equip the Tact marines with, and also, what other units to buy. I am hopping to do a "themed" force, (so like specialize in 1 or 2 things, such as drop pods, termies, ect...). So thoughts on that would be very helpful! The only thing so far that i have thought of is maybe drop pods, since they are a fleet based chapter...

Thoughts? Ideas?

Now, at the end of each post, i will be showing how much money i have spent so far, and on what stuff. So lets get to that now.

Started off with- $200
The two paints so far: $8
2 test figures: Free, already had in my collection
30 tact marines on sprue: $48! and free shipping! (gosh i love ebay!)
Amount spent so far: $56, leaving $144

That's all so far! Thanks for reading!

Hey guyz,
No replys?

Well anywayz, little bit of an update:
I downloaded some templates for a drop pod, since this is a budget project, trying to save all the money i can.
So here are the pics of the pod so far:

The grey is a plastic called ""Sintra" or "PVC Foam Core", usually can get it at sign shops. It is very sturdy, easy to cut and shape (with heat).

Now also, an exciting update:

I got all 30 of my tac marines in!!!!
I am very happy about that. But, i have not yet decided what i want to give them, hence why they are not built.

For my army list, i am planning on having a drop pod army, since KoG are a fleet based chapter, they have to get to the planet some how... So, any ideas on the the tac squads should have? I am thinking maybe a metla gun, and maybe a flamer?

Thoughts? Comments, and ideas welcome!

Hey, Cjsuner, I've always liked the nights of Gryphonne (from what little GW has provided information about them). Good luck in your blog! White Primer all the way for this one. You'll save yourself SO MUCH time! (...and yield better results.)

Drop pod looks good so far!

I like the way black primer makes the colors a more realistic darker hue, in my opinion the white primer makes the colors too bright. Though it could be a trade-off, I dunno if white does, but black usually bleeds through for me so they require two coats of color after priming

I agree with Awesomesauce. Even though black takes a bit more coats, I think it gives a more realistic tone.

Well, some might say it's a little expensive, but I give all of my tac squads a meltagun. Gives you a whole lot of versitility with those guys running around. Nothing worse that a lucky shot on your (insert predator annihilator, land raider, or whatever else is your anti-armor here) and not have anything that can touch the enemy tanks.

Good luck!

Anywayz, got another update for you guyz on the drop pod!

Done with the building stage! At least, for now... I don't feel like adding all the little details to it...

Only 3-5 more to go....
