I play orks and run an a10 warthog conversion as a fighta bomma. I have the datasheet there and it counts as a heavy support. It is (obviosly) not in the codex, and my opponent didn't want me using it for 2 reasons: One it uses apocalypse bomb templates and inferno template, and it is not in the ork codex.
What is your opinion on this and a response would be much apreciated.

If you have the rules, and it is an apocalypse game, you should be allowed to use it.
If it was just normal 40k, then I agree with your opponent, you shouldn't use flyers.

Wait for the 5ed Ork Codex. There should be a Fighta-Bomma or some other Ork flyers.

I wouldn't say a fighter-bomma...don't they have like 2 structure points?

We play with a number of units from the Imperial Armor books in our standard 40k games. But no fliers, no apoc template weapons, and nothing with structure points.
Your fighta-bomma doesn't have structure points, but it is a flier and the bomms use the apoc template and the burna bomms use the hellstorm template.
You wouldn't get to use this in our group outside of an apoc game. So, that's my opinion.

When arranging a game with IA units, we tend to have a discussion of whether War Machines/Gargantuans are off-limits and whether fliers are off-limits. If it's an Apoc datasheet, it's Apoc only.
There's a number of pre-Apoc IA units that use templates that later got used in Apoc. Using a template that isn't included in the 40K boxed game doesn't really make an IA unit extreme IMO.
There's plenty of battles where a force with no anti-air was caught without air support and wiped out without standing a chance. Or a garrison force without a dedicated anti-armour section was trampled by a Titan.
They don't make fun games. So, if there's an extreme unit in the offing, the game's more interesting if it's not a 'gotcha!' situation where one side gets to be a punching bag for 5-7 turns.

Don't use the Apoco data sheet rules in regular games. For a normal game I think you can find rules for that flyer in IA V8 Raid on Kastoral Novem. Forge World stuff can really make the game a lot of fun.

Thanks guys for the response, looks like it is an apocalypse only. I might post some photos soon, unpainted but still awesome.
