Hi everyone, just starting with warhammer 40K table top after being a DoW(RTS) ork player way back when it first came out. I am currently painting up the AoBR box set to get mah ork army churning in order to stomp lotsa humies proper.

Even though I am brand new to table top I am loving how the orks in the RTS are so similar , it's like I already know everybody lol. Only thing dissapointing in ork characters so far is the Flash Gitz-they need some love. I am aiming at a small beginners tourney that is capped at 500 points starting this nov at my local GW store so will be here asking some newbie questions, hope to get some good answers from the Boyz.

No but I have heard good things about it. How does it compare to the old one? I used to be about a 1450 rated ork(which at that time was probably top 20%) so I was pretty competitive at it. I haven't played in years though. I picked up this because I am just sick of PS3 games lol. Is DOW2 still RTS and in line with the original -I heard its a little different format.

Take away all the structure buildings. More emphasis on units (like the tabletop game) you only have your headquarters building which when destroyed, you lose.

Massively awesome points:

1) TYRANIDS...

2) Customizable War Gear on your HQ unit (Force Commander, Hive Tyrant, Warboss) etc.

Poor Areas:

Lack of Vehicles. (I only have the version that is patched with Chaos Rising, so I don't know what the Retribution game is like, but as far as I'm concerned, You can't freely roll out as many units as you want.

Requisition generation is slower, it means that your units are far more valuable than the previous game.

You also have a cover system.

I play 'Nids on that game and I win so many games against SM just by overwhelming tactical squads with nids from the start. 3 gaunt squads are cheap and run marines into a retreat, and generally cut them down wasting the requisition they cost!

It's good, alot more tactical... But less buildy and less vehicles orientated.

I actually thought about reinstalling Dark Crusade(I didn't play it as much as the original) and getting out the boyz, maybe I will consider DoW2-after the IRL boyz are painted of course.
