Love the eyes Moartiki! Nice work! Actually the whole model looks good. You should invest in some illustration pens, it would really help with your checkerboards (they're cheap too!).

Everything looks wonderful except for the checkers, but I'm sure those are a nightmare to freehand. I love the shade of yellow used and the glimmering eyes. Just fix those checkers up and this would look pro.

Looks pretty good man. The lenses work nicely. It is hard to see what the entire model looks like from the pictures you have taken, but I perused your gallery and saw your kans. They look good too! I am assuming the dread is similar to their paints. Someone else already stated to try pens for checks. I have a Pigma Micron pen, it is water proof and produces a line .2mm thick, perfect for small checks and dags. It only cost about 3 dollars at an art store. Thanks for sharing your models!

Those lenses rule. They really draw the eye. Unfortunately the rest of the model doesn't really hold up. The checkerboards are a little messy and I don't see much in the way of highlights, although I see some shading. What's the base look like? I can't tell from the photo.

LOVE the eyes. Like SRM said though, the rest of the model would look so much better if you painted it to the standard of the eyes. Maybe throw a wash on the yellow, even if you don't want to chip the paint some dirty shading goes a long way. The checks too are a bit messy. Other than that though, this is a really nice model.

Wow thanks everybody! all the compliments are really heartwarming, yea I definitely need to neaten up the checkers a bit, around the time I was finishing my painting stamina was almost all gone haha.

@ J-roc77 and Whigwam Ive heard of those pens before! I Should definitely look into buying one and trying it out

@Brother SRM, Yea I definitely should go back and highlight everything (since I didnt highlight after washing everything ) and the base is just black for now but Im planning on doing snow bases for all of my orks, just need to pick up some Arm & Hammer.

@Sentinel Im thinking maybe a thin devlan mud wash would be suffice, what do you think?

Thankyou so much everybody it means alot to me, really felt like I have come a long way.

Yeah, devlan mud would definitely work. That's what I use; I love how it warms up a pale-ish yellow and makes it a little more realistic.

I find a mix of gryphonne sepia also works to make the yellow richer without dulling the shading process.

Otherwise, Deff Dread job's a good 'un

He looks great! A very handsome fellow indeed

If you're going to give him a wash try out Gryphin Sepia first, it has yellow overtones in it and goes better with yellows imo.

I use sepia on both my bad moons and my sternguard (which are also yellow) and I love the effect it gives. Just make sure to catch the excess before it dries into large brown drips.

Well for my yellows, I use Sepia wash for the first wash, highlight with a lighter shade, then wash into the recesses devlan mud to make it darker and if there is too much I dap it off with a paper towel But the eyes are very striking, how did you do them?

AWWWW YEAAH! Receiving praise from the person I was inspired by is a wonderful feeling. thankyou very much Moredakka!

In case you guys were wondering I painted my yellow like this on the deff dread:

2 coats lyanden darksun
heavy gryphonne sepia wash

and thats basically it, but from everyones comments Im going to go back and try to neaten up the checks a bit, and do some highlighting and throw some devlan mud in the recesses.

Thanks again everybody for your kind words.

Like the others have said the eye lenses and the black teeth look absolutely fantastic. It looks like you have gotten plenty of comments about adding some highlighting and shading and straightening up of the checker patterns and I will simple agree with those folks. I will say that I like how the metallics came out. Nice work man.
