It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. Problem is for both designs this propulsion system requires open air, so it wouldn't work.

No, they meant Attitude. In Geometry, Attitude is another way of saying Orientation.
What they're saying is it can hit an object and maintain its orientation as opposed to going out of control and not knowing which way it's actually going or facing. As well, it can land in any orientation.
In flight, Attitude also refers to its angle in reference to a certain point.

I think the difference is the the OP airplane can fly in ANY direction and doesn't have an up or down. This airplane seems to have a single orientation and a protective sphere around it, probably for safety.

Nah. The sphere served a functional purpose. Some kind of semi-horizontal flight apparently. You'll notice the sphere has wings inside attaching to the main body of the device. It can lean in from any direction and go) It also allows the machine to roll on the ground.
Darn them Japanese. Gotta be impressed. They come up with the darndist things

I thought we were talking about Japan's new flying contraption XD To be honest though, if flying were a feature of the next iPhone, I would not be surprised

Ok I was commenting on the plane in halonacas( SP?) video. Where the sphere appears to serve no function other than protection.

Pretty cool indeed. I love these little micro bots.
Now to add in some AI and we have something cool.
I also love biomimetic robots:
These ones are cool as they know when they are running low on power and go and recharge themselves - I think they also work as a swarm so they know which one needs recharging the most, and where each other are so they don't bump into each other:
More cool robots on the side panel.
