I did this before with a chess board I made back in high school using my marines and orks as white and black.
Marines
King: chapter master
Queen: chaplain
Bishop: missile launcher
Knight: assault marine
Tower: lascannons
Pawn: tac marines
Orks
King: Warboss
Queen: Big Mek
Bishop: Rokkit boyz
Knight: Storm boyz
Tower: burna boyz
Pawn: Slugga boyz
It looks pretty neat seeing the board set up with 40k models instead of the basic pieces.

I think i would flip the Crisis and the Stealths, on account of Knights being all sneaky.
The King being a figure head works really well here though.

I actually wanted to do this a few years ago-glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a cool idea. I wanted to do it with fantasy though: Archaon was gonna be king on one side, until I realized I'd have to pay $40 for the king alone...it kind of petered out after that. Lol

Well I wont defile a chessboard with such horrid moddels. But yes iprobably, but since if I where to decide I would use Defilers.
