Mechanical Talons

Cast in resin

1 Pair - £3.00

Pack of 5 Pairs - £12.00

From their announcement:

Master of the Forge has released it’s first resin component product through it’s own webstore. These sci-fi Mechanical Talons are made to fit large models and are ideal for converters. The Talons come in pairs, and shipping is a fixed price regardless of shipping location.

These are the first tentative steps into the miniature production business and there are big plans for future releases.

Very nice. I'm quite a fan.

Too bad I don't have a use for these just yet, although I suppose I could put them to use in my Inquisitor's retinue on a particularly characterful warrior-acolyte.

Regardless, it's nice to see someone finally producing a reasonable version of "not-crusade-pattern-lightning-claws"/Admech scary grasping claws.

Cunning design - could represent power fist or lightning claws, potentially for loyalist or chaos marines, or looted by orks, or to represent something DE-ish.

Like those alot. Might pick up a few for my Raven Guard, paired with some older marks of armor. Would probably go well with Chaos or Orks.

Are they marine sized, or dread/mega armor sized?

Those are pretty swanky. If I find myself in need of yet more assault termies I'll probably check them out.

I own a bunch of these - and they are awesome!

Lamenter (MasteroftheForge.com's main man!) is a fantastic sculptor - and they are pretty much 'terminator' sized... and fit very well for Pre-Heresy and/or Chaos types of marines.

These are great parts, they look really well done. IMO a bit far from the standard imperial template for contemporary marines but i think would go well for pre-heresy, renegades and orks. They would also look pretty good on a talos

They certainly look nice. Any chance of some "real-world" pics of them on models?

Awsome. And there goes the market for overpriced Chaos Lord lightning claw bitz! These were sorely needed by the 40K community. Kudos to Master of the Forge!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

These would be perfect for the 60-model Flayed Ones Necron army I want to make, using the plastic warrior boxed set as conversions rather than those horrible finecast flayed ones.

Looking at how large they are on the Terminator, I think they'd be a bit too large for necrons. They're almost large enough to be lightning claws for a dreadnought.

I haven't seen a pic of them on a model, if they're too big, then bummer. I guess I would have to make each flayed one hand out of my bits box of knives from every 40K race.

Anyone know what it is on their website that keeps crashing both of the browsers I use? I've tried twice today using both IE and Opera and the site just hangs up on both. If anyone can post the pic of the claws on the terminator, it would be much appreciated.

I think they look way too big on that Terminator even. They seem better suited to be Blood Talons on a Dread.

Aargh, you're right. After looking over the pictures, they are far too big for standard infantry models. That's a shame.

Truthfully, I think these claws are expertly sculpted and poorly scaled. I don't think they're the right size for nearly anything in 40k, from that Terminator picture: they look too big for the terminator, and would be too small for a DCCW. If you had something that was 30-50% larger then a Terminator, they'd be perfect. Just my 2 cents.

It's not a pic that is hanging it up but a slow running script on their site. Either way, thanks for the pic.. and it is a bit large for anything other than maybe a truescale raptor but still too small for a dread. It could also be a good fit for the plastic daemon prince if you wanted to go more mechanical heretek than the organic claws that come with the plastic kit.

Truthfully, I considered that as I'm making an Iron Warrior-esque Demon prince myself. I think I'm going to have my hands full with Necrons for a while anyway though.

Another crazy idea re Necron Flayed Ones - use these claws as Flayed One heads? I mean, crazy heads is no sillier than crazy hands...

Yeah, the Iron Warriors were foremost in my mind when I wrote that. If you do decide to do it, post a pic as I'm curious to see how it'll look.

On a somewhat related note, did you end up starting your truescale Alphas? If so, did you decide on a ruleset/codex that you'll be using?

I did - and I'm going with C: CSM (until C: Traitor Legions comes out!).

It is the best in terms of representing both Pre-Heresy AND the Alpha Legion (via the use of infiltrating Chosen squads).

I'll be posting pics in the 'main' section of Dakka soon - paint is about to hit the first squad!
