First test model for my Urban/Cityfight armoured regiment. WW2 Germany inspired paint scheme (not much of a scheme since its... well only grey). Went for a simple approach with extensive chipping and quite a few scratches. Painted with airbrush and brush.
Quite happy with the results, but my homemade lightbox didint wanna play nice so the images are a bit bright. Since the dakka gallery doesnt wanna show images in a proper size and color i had to use photobucket. Gallery link added.

WOW! That looks beautiful. Great job! The paint chips look great. How did you do them? And honestly sometimes the simple approach is the best approach. Simplicity has a certain aesthetic all on its own. Diggin' the track guards too.

I Use diffrent "gauges" of sponge and dab edges and such places with come dark color. This technique is widley used. But i also hand paint quite a lot of chips becuase the sponge technique can look wierd on its own.

Not really since this is kind of a fresh start, got some old ones but not any pics on the computer. Actually i havent painted that much IG at all. There is however a whole lot of models standing by for painting. So there will be updates.

How did you get the squadron marking lines so straight? I have tried multiple techniques and I can't get even remotely close to that.

I actually raged for like 20min becuase the lines on the right side are a tiny bit crooked Anyway they are done with masking tape and a airbrush. I was thinking of adding a gradient to them becuase they were a bit bland. But ultimately decided to keep em simple.

For the best, I think.

I'm drooling. The weathering is phenominal. I love the way the paint looks on this model, very clearly airbrushed and looks great.

One suggestion/comment. Have you considered some OSL around the searchlight? From what I can see, this isn't beyond your capabilities and could add some additional life to the model. Completely unnecessary but could look good.

Yes, but i consider OSL more of a miniature technique that works well with tabletop model painting and not suited for the more "realistic" look. It would probably look ok.. who knows

Perhaps, most methods i use are pretty widely used by"fine scale modellers" and there are a thousand of tutorials on the web but i will think about it.

Skippy wrote:It looks fantastic, but that huge mould line on the barrel is a bit distracting

Very distracting yes, but not a mould line, and would be totaly invisible if not for the multiple washes ive used. I even used 1200 grit sandpaper on this area.
But i didint notice it until washing and the model was almost complete at that step. This will be fixed in future models of course.

Rock solid and pretty.

Constructive criticism: The line along the barrel needs filling/sealing/whatever.

Still, top notch tabletop qualifty. Good display quality too, except that line.

For those asking for a tute look up MIG color modulation style
He even has a dvd, probally Youtube as well
And speaking of which you pull off the modulation nicely, nice to see another fine scale modeler on here.
The tank looks pretty spare, you plan on adding stowage?

Not sure about it yet, the style looks quite clean and im not sure if adding bits would hurt or help, i will probably add a few things in later tanks as a test.
