Okay so I know they're expensive, but combined correctly with the proper Warband they are both devestating, and EXTREMELY flexible. They've got Lascannons for first round targets, Multi-meltas for second round, and heavy flamers for when gak gets hairy.

oh and then you get some special side bonuses which means you could potentially have rending storm bolters, or 36" range Storm Bolters.

I'm also curious to hear about ppls' experiences.

I've only ever seen them on the table once, and they didn't really have any effect on the game because I shot the whole Corteaz unit to death with scatterlasers from long range before they actually got to do anything.

In cover, and with crusaders in the unit for the 3++ and with archoflagellants for the FNP, but 70+ str6 shots will just blow through anything's cover/armor/invul saves.

dude jokaero need an armored shell man, that's why my units are 5 Storm bolter acolytes and 3 jokaero in a chimera. Then I have coteaz for giving my vehicles stealth. and eventually I'll have some techmarines for fortified ruins so, 2+ cover save AV 12 depending on how much your store uses ruins.

Which doesn't give anybody Stealth. I think you might want to read the Codex again as it is Shrouding you are thinking of, which Coteaz doesn't have.

As for the topic, I've had great success with Jokaero in simple 3 man Melta squads in Chimeras.

Use: Mobile flamer unit for counter-assault and monkeys provide as needed lascannon/multi-melta fire. Can also add heavy flamers once acolytes jump out of the rhino to flame. Psyker only cost 30 points and add a assault 1 large template to the mix.

nope but you can bunker them down as fire support. also the heavy flamer is assault.

I have been proxying Jokaeros to see how they work for aver a month, and I love them.

First never have more than 2 per squad if you want to upgrade everyone else. - 70pts
Then I do a couple things
1. 10 Storm Bolters - something close to 90 pts (great for a fire line type)
2. Rhino with a few stripped Warriors for cheap mobile scoring

So far I have had really good success because I run two Techmarines too
Which up ruins from a 4++ to a 3++ (and for my vindy a 2++)
*Unfortunately you can only upgrade a ruin once ='[
I stick Corteaz in the middle ruin with a sqaud and if anyone dares DS near him, well let's just say they don't last long.
Then I use some DC and Crusaders to clean up any CC threats (paired with the Techmarines)

The Monkeys have ususally pulled through and they make things interesting (though that BS3 really gets annoying fast)
I never run more that 6 (usually 4)

And they Shall know no Fear

I've played it with one or two in my inquisitor squad with three crusaders to give that nice invul save. They are a bit pricey, but the fact that they have built in weapons like las and multi-melta is nice. Having two also means that you wont get the no-effect roll of one. Then just throw some heavy weapons servitors in there and you have a great firebase.

I like 2 jokero with 8 bolter henchmen in a rhino. 150 points, the rhino with its fortitude cant be shaken or stunned easily giving you a great fire base, and with 8 bolter henchmen the upgrade rolls are all generally useful. Rending of course is perhaps the nicest, but 5++ invuln for a little tar pit, 4+ armor for small arms, extra range on the jokeros multimeltas, none of those really stink. Storm bolters for 16 more points is not the end of the world, but I dont feel they have good synergy with the rhino. I think I would take flamers before storm bolters if I was also taking a rhino.

I like fielding 2 Jokaero with 10 Inquisitorial Storm Troopers w/ hellguns (hotshots but the former name sounds much more bad ass), popping them in a Chimera.

Its a nice all around combo, however, they still have the nasty habit of feces throwing while we're embarked...

I would say 2 with something like, say, plasma cannon servitors would work pretty well.

But I haven't actually tried them, so I'm talking out my butt.

Jokaero aren't Mat Wards idea, they have been in the game since the original RT rulebook.

Even though they have been absent recently, their craftwork hasn't - those digital Weapons that Marine Commanders etc get? Full name Jokaero Digital Weapons, again dating back to RT.

If you want to blame Matt Ward for things at least make it his stuff!

No, but it was his idea to drag them forward into a codex they really shouldn't have had anything to do with, and place them there as a unit. In a way that made little sense in the context of the previous fluff no less.

I want codex jokaero... really cool models. I'm nto a GK player, tbut have played against em and they were pretty interesting, seemed to really beef up the squad, one of those groups took out a battlewagon ... which made me sad.
