Are you modifying your list to compensate for necrons
Total overhaul.
Slight adjustment/wargear changes.
Too soon to do anything.
I'm happy with my list, and it's going to take a lot to change it.
No way, I crush newcrons. I make them change lists.

Just dropped in on my FLGS for the second time this week, and I'm seeing more Necron than GK and SW combined; and not just stormy/scarab lists.
It seems like necron are especially good at countering the MSU spam that has dominated the scene for recent memory.

I'm curious as to how people are altering their TAC lists to compensate for the massive necron force awakening across the gaming landscape?

Obviously, countering scarab rush is a necessity in most mech lists, but other than that, has anyone started adjusting; and how so?

Meh, I play both mech IG and nids. Only thing that will really change on my end is deployment and strategy (and no, I don't really fear scarabs).

It may just be, because old Cron players are pulling out their armies as well. More than GK and SW combined, seems crazy though.

As for me, my Lists will remain relatively unchanged.

Well one thing that I've noticed is that a lot of people already have Necrons. Although they never brought them out, lots of people had claims that they had decent sized armies at home. If you think about it, I'm sure everyone can remember 1 or 2 times that you've heard someone say they have Necrons collecting dust in a cabinet somewhere.
It definitely is a cool army to play fluff-wise. And now with a new codex, everyone is bringing those armies out. So far, 2 people have brought them into the store an started playing them, and I never even knew they had it.

But that's why I think more are "popping up."

To be fair, I've stopped in twice, and 1/2 the games going on have been necron. So It may sound a little more dramatic than it is. Los Angeles is also kind of a 'ooh shiny' kind of gaming environment... my NY people are still running daemonhunter and 3rd E Dark Eldar armies, playing 3rd edition D&D, and refusing to acknowledge that storm ravens and dreadknights even exist.

The only thing necrons did for my ig list is purge any doubt I had about taking an astropath.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I dont see crons changing the meta beyond scarabs. Armies that can't deal with 50 odd scarabs in combat will need to rethink their cc options. Armies that can deal with scarabs will see no change.

Procrastinating.

I'd just call the meta change apart from a increase in nightfighting and scarabs to be an increase in the quantity of shots over the quality.

Grey Knight lists should spend that extra 1 point per vehicle for spotlights. That should shave 5 to 10 points off most all comers mechanized GK lists.

Aye. No changes at all in my IG lists. I already have search lights. I already have a stupid amount of templates and blast markers.....most of which ID scarabs....and I have infantry I can bubble wrap (even in a fully mech list) so the Scarabs + Spyder + first turn assault trick doesn't work on my army...at least not easily.

Against my mech Eldar with lots of S6 shots, Scarabs will suffer horribly. Same goes for my mech BA, where I'll take 3 Baal Predators next time.

I saw a Battle report by Reecius just an hour ago, where they used a great deal of Scarabs.

I haven't read the Nec-dex just yet, so i'm very unclear about the details.
- What's up with these new Scarab-pooping lists? How does it work? And more importantly - why is there such a riot about it?

Basicly spyders are the necron version of the tervigon, except what poops out is way better: swarms of armor wrecking doom. The number of attacks is rather large, so the quality of attacks doesn't matter much (against normal geqs and even non assault meqs). Against multi wound models or tanks, you are in serious trouble if you get caught by scarabs. If you are in assault range of scarabs with a vehicle, you need to move 12 or you will lose that vehicle. BTW, they have beast movement, so their assault movement is rather large. If your multi wound models are assaulted by scarabs, expect to be tarpited by models that remove your armor save if your model takes a wound.

I voted 'Too soon to do anything'.

I really like the new directions of the newcron codex, but after following the rumors, then some preliminary review I predict the army generally is a B range army, it still has no real answers to high power melee and little psychic defense, but most importantly, simple middling troops.

As a space wolf player I am generally non plussed.

As an artist I am very intrigued, they sure are pretty!

The absence of power build(s) I think is pretty telling so far though.

My Daemon list and BA list will have no issue against the new crons.

DE.... well, I doubt I'll have issues there either, just really depends on luck (like most DE games haha!)

I'll be fielding a 'Cron army soon myself, but who knows? Just as anything, gotta learn the loopholes.

I doubt it. My thousand sons list benefits from shredding through there armor with inferno bolts which should negate the benefits from reanimation protocols. I often take a demolisher too so that would greatly help with warriors and scarabs and las predators can snipe arks. No real need to change anything, but we shall see when I play against them.

The first iteration of these lists and battles I'm seeing really all seem to be based around the night fighting approach; and the natural course of the meta is, IMO to compensate for that, which should naturally lead to a reduction in the reliance on night fighting. Once the smoke clears on that shake up, I'm wondering the if the lists that eventually evolve out of this codex are going to be strong enough to seriously compete.

The codex seems pretty solid, while some people are crying OP and others are screaming nerf; I think that Necron has always had a niche as a reliable and forgiving army that lacked variety but made up for it with durability. Now that Ressurection Protocols have improved over WBB, phase out is gone, and the PPM have been brought into line with recent codices, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Necrons will be a reasonable concern, but won't sweep the way that IG and SW do.

Still, in the meantime, Searchlights, and attacker assigned wounds like Tellion and the vindicare are going to be fixtures for me; I may throw a couple of incinerators on my PGK and throw TL PC on my stormravens. I may invest in blacksun filters for my Tau, but my CSM list should still work just fine between KB and Obliterator spam

As far as dusting off my old necrons, I'm definitely looking forward to using obyron, royal courts, and command barges.

Tailoring lists is a lot more boring, then making a TAC list.

Might chuck in some shredders over blasters if mech becomes less prevalent, but aside from that, I'm staying the same.

I already had Blacksun Filters on all my Hammerheads. All I really did was slide a Blacksun filter on my Pathfinders and a couple Crisis Suit Teams, about 9 points, which actually brought me closer to 2K. Other than that its all the same.

I guess its the fact that almost everyone at my LGW use Imotekh...
