Hey fellas. So I'm working on a razorspam list and I have two old Plasma Cannon sponsons from an IG Demolisher that I want to model with a LC. Problem is the two PC's have the large round cylinder attached to them. The pewter I need to cut through is about 1/4'' by 1/2'', more than what a normal knife could handle. I'm near my dad's woodshop for the holiday weekend so didn't know if there is a simple tool or procedure you know of to cut this. Thanks!

You'll need a saw and elbow grease.

Pewter won't destroy the teeth on a saw?

Not a good razor saw, provided you're slow and careful about it.

I've found it helps to take a small drill bit & drill pilots along where your cut is going to be.

Pewter is just tin with a little copper in it. A jeweller's saw will go through it very easily. But if you apply some elbow grease, you can stick a utility knife in the elements on your stove, then just use the red-hot utility knife to cut into it.

Use a bench grinder, or a heavier duty file, Im sure youll find one of those in a wood shop. That is why, I own a couple different dremels, ranging from cheap, to cut a car in half good. And with the right bit, they all can chew up pewter minis with ease

Thanks guys! I located a couple of hacksaws, looks like they should deliver clean cuts. Also have a heavy duty bench mounted vice which should hold the piece steady enough.
Speaking of headlight fluid and elbow grease, I picked up a bag of grid squares and some BA-11's...the blue kind.
Sorry to get off topic, enjoy!

Elbow grease is real enough, it's otherwise known as hard work.

a hobbyist's razor saw. I do a lot of dremel work but nothing is better for thick pewter than the manual saw, and since you want to make a straight cut it should be a breeze. The steel is MUCH harder than the pewter so don't be afraid of wearing it out, I'm using the same saw that I bought for plastic car models 20 years ago.

Nice...
Anyway, Pewter is quite a soft material. A plain utility knife with some good effort (BE CAREFUL) could do the job.
Got a dremel tool with a cutting disk? Hell yeah... (oh, and wear safety goggles. Metal shavings + eyeball = pain)
Otherwise, a hacksaw will do the job just fine.
As noted: +1 to PLANNING your cuts beforehand.

I've had great results cutting pewter minis in half with a standard razor saw. Getting a miter box for it definitely helps but certainly isn't necessary.

It depends if you want to salvage the off side of the cut. Sometimes I don't want to do this, so a heavy duty pair of plier makes the first cut (away from where I want the neat edge), then I hold the part with blu-tak wrapped pliers (so as not to damage it) and hold it against the bench grinder to neaten up, before a final bit of hand filing with a flat jeweller's file.
If you do want to keep the other side (perhaps it has nice detail) then yeah, a razor saw and a bit more time is needed.
