pistons and spikes are giving me all sorts of ideas on how to boobytrap my house. i wonder if players would take damage from blocks closing a passageway.
on a completely random note.. what about making bumper cars or a human pinball machine using pistons on ice and players in minecarts?

Closing blocks on a player shifts them out of the block and makes them take suffocation damage.
Pistons don't push people with much force but using an ice floor it is possible to push them a reasonable distance.

I have just thought of an awesome PvP idea!
An arena made of ice, walls lined with pistons, all connected to a bunch of clocks so they all fire randomly. All players start in front of one of the pistons, no-one is allowed to touch movement keys, just aim and swing swords!

bumper cars I was gonna have in my theme park with boats, but human pinball sounds cool. the arena idea I like even more though
tree canopy roof sounds cool.
Imma have a secret house built, where if you hit a switch dirt blocks move away to reveal a house in a hill.

i was thinking of pressure plates in the middle of an obsidian hallway and when the trap is sprung the walls close in towards the player from each end, thus pushing them towards the middle where trapdoors over lava open and the player burns to death.

maybe just the walls (cobble?) close in and suffocate the player?
or maybe as it closes have a sign reading "this way to safety" and a minetrack cart which leads to a lava guillotine?

It can shift you through blocks any distance it needs to, you can test this already by filling a room with sand.

How about using the same concept but horizontal? you get pushed by cobble made in the same way as the self building building house triggered by a pressure plate. this could push you into a lava pit!

Possible however the pushed blocks would catch on the pressure plate. Devastator wrote:How about bouncing bettys? Tnt jumped up by those launchers. No blocks can be launched by pistons so the best you could do it push the tnt up a bit before it explodes and destroys the piston and all controlling circuitry.

I think pistons can push other, unextended pistons
if so an underground chamber can push 2 or 3 pistons up that also extend in sequence, raising the TNT above the circuits and into the air to explode.

Try combining the piston, tnt, and a cobblestone fountain to continue to push the tnt up so it doesn't destroy the piston.

Tnt destroys cobble though?
The piston can only move the tnt 1 away from it and the blast radius of tnt it 1.5.

So... I made a 16 wide by 30 long by 8 high room. What should I do with it! It's safely underground, so Mob Arena is a acceptable idea. There is also very easy acces to alot of Lava and a lot of water from inside the room.
