Orland, they definitely are-- he made an overt reference when he was posting one of their illustrations.
No idea about the rules... they're priced on the low side for things w/o content, on the high side of things with content... because in this campaign, things are more expensive if they don't have rules.

Oh I also caught from the comments that all the expansions people bought from the BF sale from the EU warehouse have just been sent out according to Dark Mediator who is one of the KD shipping folk Automatically Appended Next Post: the voting from the twitch stream they got to present 3 requests to Adam for new content with Adam making 1 of them if they won (they did)..... or if he doesn't like any of the options making up something else entirely so it looks like either More Settlement Events (could be fun, I could see Adam liking the idea), More Hunt Events (again I think this is possible), a Krampus Nemesis (probably not as I think it's too dependant on non KD mythology) or of course something else from Adams fevered dreams (I think he said he only got 3 hours sleep last night)

I know there are some people who really value the rules and don't care for the miniatures, but I doubt they'd be willing to pay 90%.

There's always the pledge manager at least.
A little less of a Sophie's Choice in that case.
I feel like I'm the only person who isn't really loving the artist's style who is doing all the new armor concepts.
I know they're just design work, but I really preferred the style of the artist who did most of the original campaign's art.
Probably just the manga nerd in me creeping out.

Awesome video review by Shut up and sit down. It actually got me to decide to cancel my pledge. He's very measured and fair, but unaffected by the hype that had overwhelmed me. I realize now I can't really justify spending $300+ on a board game, especially one that I would have to spend an extraordinary amount of time on when I have a kid and tons of other games I want to play. It's just a game after all. Anyway, watch the whole thing, it's really good. https://www.shutupandsitdown.com/review-kingdom-death-monster/

Adam hasn't officially confirmed there will be any option to add cash post KS (even through it does seem unlikely there won't be at least one) so not putting in as much as you can during the KS is a risk even if it's probably a small one as to whether any of the levels are worth it this spreadsheet should tell you (if you figure it out which I can't at first glance.... but it does have all the KS prices and MRSP in one place so you make your own judgement with a calculator) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yongANgzTydc244aWDJyFoHhTBDBKWpGuF6CtlN6jEc/edit#gid=0

Yeah, for starts, the shipping prices are estimates, and at the point where you've set up the infrastructure for adding to the cost, you might as well add the option to buy more stuff.

Which, in fairness, is a mistake on "most people's" part; art almost always demands you go beyond your visceral reaction to a work to think about said reaction. The genre is body horror, and that's a spectrum with deformed, grotesque monsters on one end and hyper-idealized (and thus equally grotesque in many regards) on the other. However, certainly not unreasonable to mention the most obvious thing that jumps out about the motif. That the correct genre is never mentioned is probably the only thing I really find unfair in the video.
As a review of the game itself, I found it to be mostly reasonable in its criticisms of the game. The one slight oversight is with the hunt phase with the random hunt cards that all say roll on the random hunt event table. It was obviously designed to be more modular for a future mechanic to utilize or add additional tables to in later expansions. I wouldn't expect a normal person to see that potential, but SU& SD has seen more than their share of games to pick up on design cues. Thus far, very little really leverages the modularity so it's mostly wasted potential and thus fair game for critique, but to say it makes "no sense" isn't exactly true either.
Their broader points that it's a big game, with tons of stuff, lots of record-keeping and the potential for a certain amount of drudgery in the early phases of any given campaign are certainly things people should be aware of before sinking in the money. There is also, as you said, a massive amount of time you need to enjoy the game fully and time is a zero-sum game. Time spent on A is time that cannot be spent on B.

KD is absolutely art. Something as simple as the pinup Fade, and accompanying event card is powerful as hell. The notion that...
1. A society may opt to condemn an infant for an urgently needed mechanical advantage, or make the harder choice is conveyed by a cool, single-card event/choice.
2. The model conveys body horror, and a world with different norms about sexuality, nudity, etc... all while being empowering showing a woman with a non-size 0 body-type being powerfully maternal (shielding an infant with her forearm), while also being a warrior.
KD isn't even enough credit by people quick to condemn it for, "lol dick butts"...

KD as a whole is absolutely art in my opinion. There is a depiction of story in nearly every piece of artwork, and even the miniatures often convey a story.
The female Twilight Knight was an early favorite of mine not because "hurr hurr tits!" but because of the entire piece itself. A woman, comfortably leaning against her weapon where she's clearly at ease with an implement of death (as a sword exists for no other purpose than to kill). She's not a damsel in distress and she's not awkwardly attempting to look intimidating but it's a casual familiarity with an oft-used tool like I would have with my computer at work or my car. And in the artwork that accompanies it there is just such an expression of resigned weariness; that whatever she just finished doing is the latest in a long chain of similar events that she can see stretching out before her until her untimely demise. It's bleak, disheartening and likely I would quail in her situation with the futility of it all, but there's no sign of weakness or fear in her expression. She knows her role in this nightmare, and she's going to see it through to the end. There's tragic beauty in that, and it's done so simply.
Obviously, as mentioned in the opening line a great deal of the interpretation of art depends on the beholder so it's inherently subjective, as is any definition of "what is art?" but I do feel...saddened? when people only engage with something at the most cursory of levels. KD's work has numerous layers, even if some of them are more readily apparent than others.

People can see art in many different aspects of everyday life, individual perception is everything. Still, it seems unusual to me that you would feel saddened by people not having the same deep(?) perspective as yourself. People are free to enjoy KD without seeing the "art" in it.
I'm reminded of that scene in the film American Beauty when the wind is blowing the plastic bag around in the street. It's just a plastic bag!
It seems clear to me that Poots read Berserk, played Demon's Souls and watched some hentai, then decided to make some figures and a board game.
I love Berserk and I love Demon's Souls so that's absolutely fine with me! I don't care much for hentai though!

It's not that I'm saddened by them not having a similarly deep perspective; it's when they look at something, make a snap judgement at a cursory level and then go no further. Sadness is an imprecise term there as well; it's very much akin to the feeling I have looking at the random hunt cards actually. That potential for their interpretation of the work and mine to be compared, that we could both learn something new, has been wasted. It's not an uncommon thing, and as you say everyone is free to do what they want with their own time and interests but it's no less unfortunate for how common it is.
By the same token, if someone wants to buy a gourmet meal and scarf it down as quickly as possible, or chug a bottle of fine wine, they are more than welcome to do so. It's just taking a little bit more time to examine things more closely could be hugely beneficial to the entire experience. If they're having the meal/wine to fulfill a basic need though (i.e. - food/drink/entertainment), I can understand why one would be more interested in that end of the equation than the exploration of the nuance offered. So too if someone is just buying KD to have a gaming experience, rather than using it as a vehicle for an exploration of the human psyche.

Fade is one of my favorite figures in the line (probably only teid with the fighter class pinup) for the very reasons NewTruthNeomaxim mentions. Powerful as hell.
I kind of wish the father and son narrative sculpt had gone with a similar pose with the two of them together as one figure. I'm debating about putting the father and son on separate bases so they can be running towards each other.
Maybe that way I can use the kid as an extra savior while I'm at it.
