1st Squad

2nd Squad

3rd Squad

4th Squad

5th Squad

Fast Attack

7th Squad, about half done

Heavy

9th Squad, the beginnings of it anyway...

Everything looks amazing, the care you're taken with conversions and mixing different armor pieces really makes each figure pop.

Your paint job in the "Librarian, Sevrin Loth model" is superb, I absolutely love it.

Yeah I have spent a ton of time trying to make each marine look unique and to really give them a unique look. The Librarian got a little close to being done today, another few days and we will be all done!

that Sevrin Loth model looks great! i think the model looks simply badass.
i love the yellow, i have seen it done and to horrific results and i thought no model no matter which it might be could ever look as intimidating as it could in any other color.. and Lysander proves me wrong.

the second honor guard from the right caught my eye. [2X sword] i think he is simply awesome based off looks alone. dont get me wrong i think the whole force regardless of not being complete look great but that one model just caught my eye.
tell me is that how its supposed to look? and if so what must i buy to get him?
oh and this is most likely a dumb question but if i decided to could i convert that into a chaos marine?
im still new to warhammer in general so forgive my barrage of questions.

I think that Lysander paintjob is amazing. Also, i really like how you did the line on the Terminator sergeant. I have to ask, how did you get the white so smooth on the Terminators? Also what did you use to convert up the Dreads? I'm not so good at recognizing parts yet.

I am painting lots of yellow too. I am curious to know your recipe.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

@DeathRex--He was a custom job. The Head is GK head, the shoulders are from the Honor Guard Box set, the swords are GK as well, legs and torso are from the Honor Guard box set.

@Syrell--The white is actually not white, it is a grey color. It was applied via aribrush, Vallejo Sea Gray, and then a coat of Vallejo Sky Grey, only the extreme edges will be done in pure white. Also, in regards to the autocannons, they are Imperial Guard Autocannons that have the Land Raider Crusader Hurricane Bolter shields placed over them.

@ Fifty-- The yellow is a rather simple recipe. I start with a very thin coat of white primer, like so thin you can still see the grey plastic. That is followed by another thin coat of Army Builder Demonic Yellow. Then I airbrush on Vallejo Golden Yellow. After that I use Windsor and Newton OIl paint, Camium Yellow, and then apply the shading with Windsor and Newton Oil paint,Burnt Umber. Once those have been applied the model receives a Lacquer based flat clear coat, and then highlights are done with Vallejo Flat Yellow, and the shades are deepened with Devlan Mud and Badab Black as needed.

Thanks for the info, it seems like something I could stand to look into. I think you're really good at this kind of stuff, if I could do something half as good as the autocannons I'd be more than satisfied.

These are great. I love the conversions, especially the small hand and arm switches on the Tac marines which changed the way they hold the bolter. Looking forward to more of this. The little splashes of FW armor seal the deal.

@40k--I have a few WIP pictures of how I do those conversions, as time permits I will put them up and explain what is going on.

@Eisenhorn---I have been using oil paints on models for about 10 years...IIRC you are the member who did the large scale Imperial Fist with the over-sized studs? I believe I gave you some pointers on using oil paints, how did it turn out?

So I have made a little progress on one of the 5th Company Dreadnoughts...you will notice in the photos that the finish is rather shiny, this is because I will be doing some weathering with oil paints and it is best to apply those types of paints to a semi-gloss or glass surface. I am also trying something new for the metal surfaces on the Dread, you will notice that it has all been painted dark gray and received a very light dry-brushing of a lite gray oil paint mixed with some artist wax, I am trying to achieve what I call a IMF, or Industrial Metal Finish. If you look at cast metal parts, machine parts, engines, they are all dark in color, sooty, oily, grimy and dirty, there is very little shine to them, that is what I am going to try and achieve on this guy using weathering powders and oil paints. SO check back soon for some updates on the progress!!

@ Ruguld;yeah Lysander was fun to paint, I really enjoyed him. The recipe is super easy, Vallejo Basic Skin Tone, Ivory and Ogryn Flesh!!

@San76; My other chapter is Blood Angels, but I wanted to have a vanilla list and IF's seemed to be the biggest challenge for me, mostly due to the yellow color.

@Pooo; The yellow is Windsor and Newton Cadmium Yellow, it is an oil paint, all the yellow I have painted so far, and much of the weathering is all oil paint. It is fast, consistent and produces great results!

Here is another update on the dread. Most of the weathering is done at this point, now I need to finish the base, touch up some details and call it done. I will admit, the weathering is a little bit of a rush job, but I have a whole company to paint, I cant take forever on one model, besides I think it looks fine the way it is!

Time for an update. I have just started school, and things have gotten real busy, but the 1st few weeks are always that way, things will settle down a bit and I will be able to make more regular updates.

First up, I have finished 5th Company 2nd squad. The bases still need the weathering powder, but that stuff is so damn dirty that I want to wait and do a whole bunch at once.

Group shot

I also started on doing the 6th squad of the 5th company as well;

A bionic leg that I scratch built;

The I started work on my 4th dreadnought, this one will be for the 1st company, I am still waiting in some auto-cannons for the arms.

And lastly I finished the assembly on this big guy as well. It is going to be a 1st company LRC, It si fully magnetized so I will be able to run it as what ever I want.

My mind is genuinely blown out of the water! You have got some stunning looking conversions, cool little scratch builds and a perfect paintjob to round it off! I envy every little detail about this army!

@ Commander, thanks for the feedback, more updates will be coming in the next week or so, I have some bits ordered to finish the Devastator squads and the rest of the assault marines.

@Vitruvian- Being a full time student I dont have as much time to work on these as I would like, while I certainly appreciate the criticism, at this point I wont be going back to fix them, I would like to keep moving forward.

Understood! I feel your pain, i started uni in September and it feels like time moves twice as fast now!

edit: Forgot to say how much i LOVE that bionic leg, the armoured look to it is great and makes much more sense than the bare mechanical parts you usually see.

Time for another update. School has been keeping my busy, so I have not had a ton of time, but I am slowly pecking away at things,

First up is my last tactical squad. I now have all 6 tactical s done! There is a little putty work to do on some of the conversions, but nothing major.

Next up, I just finished the 7th squad, IE the first devastator squad for the company! I am going with a pretty generic load out for them, and I have several other heavy weapons that I will model up so that I can change things as needed.

Also, I have FINALLY settled on a Company Captain model that I like. This is my company captain, it was a simple conversion; Master of the recruits body, BT head, SecretWeapon helmet crest,, Sanguinary Guard arm, FW shoulder, GK falchion, and an IF back pack! It turned out nice and I cant wait to paint him up!

And lastly, I have gotten some more weathering done in this big fella. I have some metallic weathering powders on order that I will use to create a similar metal effect to the dreadnought I posted earlier. I also have 2 more contemptors on order from FW with twin-linked auto-cannon arms, that will make for some fun!
