Well, here is mine. This was the first model I painted in 9 years, and didn't really do anything but TTQ before. Never did basing before, let alone washes and basing. This isn;t much compared to the masterpieces here, but thought I would share nonetheless.

Nice to see so many interesting conversions for the Dreads!
- I've always found the Dread-models to be kinda boring (mostly thought about 'em as a big metal box with arms), so it's awesome to see some great conversions to 'em!
Spicing 'em up!

so you used red washes i gather? hmmm i think i would go for badabblack and after it is dried i would like agroszkiewicz suggested go over the raised parts/areas with a further paintcoat or two... after that you got yourself a very detailed dread to go and smash ´em...

cheers, vik

Not bein a hater, but you really really don't want to use Badab black on red....it looks horrible. With washes you want a color that compliments the model, but provides a darker tone for recessed area's. Badab black can have some really intense effects once it dries, and honestly the only time I use it is to shade gunmetal areas. ALso, don't "flood" the model. Washes are a subtle bit of work and need to be applied using a "layer" concept as opposed to "I use the wash after I finish all the base paint".

well i used it with quite good results... depends as always as what kind of end effect you want to create. badab black is far from the omnipotent solution, and i dont want to let it be thought i did so, but i had used this combination for an older version of my sons marines and they looked good. it was a hell lot of work but it looked good. mind you i wasn´t using blood red, as i deemed it to bright. i´m all for mecharite red. so there is not a problem there. and the shiny effect of badablack was also a nice kick...nevertheless the chapter got washed the hardway with stripping measures and is now the iron templars...way easier to do...

and i dont think constructive critisism is being a hater^^, where would we be if all was but praise? in fairy land? OGFG...

wouldn´t stand that^^

My Night Lords Dreadnought Glaukos (Daemon of the greek mythology) is done. Now he can spread fear amoung the lapdogs of the false emperor.

Surprise is an insubstantial blade, a sword worthless in war.
It breakes when troops rally. It snaps when commanders holt the line.
But fear never fades.
Fear is a blade that sharpens with use.
So let the enemy know we come. Let their fears defeat them as everything falls dark.

holy gak, thats a classy choas dread Dark Bjoern...cool scheme..and nice conversion.

and to Mannahanin, nice idea with the extra armour, look s cool and a very nice colorscheme with good highlights to go..specially like the ccw...

and at galaktic defender, like the idea with the lower part of the sacophargos, painting that red, what should it represent? i would recommend just drilling the multimelta barrels out, this would help the mdel a lot. otherwise good paintjob.

Ditto, too many folks think that slapping spikes onto something makes it "rawr chaos". That Nightlord Dread is amazing.

My uhhh.....my big evil thing after a facelift and a bit of work. Sorry for the lack of paint, stripped it to use with my biomechanical IW army.

FW only makes 2 Nurgle themed weapons for the dreads, and I didn't want to get shot up by my own TL Lascannons if he goes crazy. Plus, wanted to save a few points in the process.

Ok, so here are a few dreads I threw together and painted this week for an Apoc game.

All in all I consider them pretty standard in the world of dreadnoughts, but I like them for the minimal amount of time and effort put into them.

Thanks,

Thanks, and ya... I wish FW made more Nurgle/Death Guard looking right arms for the dreads.

Really, it's more because it's sweet looking anyways. :p
