hey klaus... that vid is in my opinion the only true way to really portray your athena in a way that is giving her the credit she needs... really wasome looking... by the way... that flight stand... as the anthena is one hell of a big lady... what did you use to secore this on your table? i bet whislt turning her for the view you were a bit edgy...

may i make a suggestion? do a vid for your herc and zeus too... that would be great...!!!

by the way... the "new" anthena look... what will you do with the "old" tower? so much hard work gone to waste? can´t believe that... but that upcoming interrior to the conferrence room... that makes me very intrigued to say the least^^

Well, the time has come!
Started in May 2009 the ATHENA now continues

As promised in my video I want to complete the undercarriage first.
For this I built two small AA-turrets - similar to the ones used on the ZEUS


Pretty out of exercise I had to sand a lot :tongue:


The pieces for the small las-guns


and the assembled barrels


And these are the finished turrets, with rivets and sights


This is the plotting table for the observation deck


And everything in place




Next will be to paint the observers, I can potentially close the undercarriage off.

@Vik - no these are tubes that I got from Rai-Ro. They are a bit cheaper than the white ones out of the US, and just as good.
Well, after the last update I changed my desk configuration to "painting mode" (and before you ask: no, I have no clue how many colors I have, but you're welcome to count

I still think this is the most epic build on the site.

I agree with Brian. And it may not be easily visible with the Hull on, but it's one of those details that when someone is looking it over, and they stumble upon it, they shout, "Holy Cow! That is awesome!"

I really like the "targeting" reticles you painted on the plotting table!

well regardless if everyone can see it or not... this is first of all your build and you do it for you... so making a next to never to be seen deatil is in my book always viable because you have a mental image of the done work in your head... so for really completing a project everything in this jigsaw of a puzzle has to be set inplace...or painted and build to the level you see fit...

and boy is that a fit room^^ and no mistake^^ the details and the lil green HUD lines and so on are just as i have imagined them^^... the one on the table tho looks like he is pointing to something and none of the others is interrested in his discoveries..."that´s just John Die...he always is pointing out rubbish...better don´t take any notice of him..."

Holographic projection of the bombing results?

I like it, even if it's hard to see when the top is on the point is someone will still see it and it definitely beats just painting the windows. It's that sort of extra detail that breathes life into projects like this.

I would like to know the painting technique to get that green holo-glow effect.......
