You went from that odd fellow that PM's me occasionally with hilarious content, to a serious friggin modeler.....still odd but thats not a bad thing Your SM army is seriously impressive, and Ill have to try your weathering ideas on my Ork vehicles, because I STILL cant get paint chip to look right, where as yours is friggin paint chips!

Cheers Mr Mal! i'm trying to keep my hand in while i'm renovating and as soon as it's all done I can set up my station again and really get going! the sallies are gonna be a very nice and powerful army from what i can tell, something different for me anyway! :-) and the Ork warboss is going to just be a blast to paint! i've brainstormed some ideas with Kingcracker and he should also look the goods when i get to him!

Been painting a little bit here and there. Just uploaded some new stuff last night for my work in progress thread. I'm in the middle of going through a ton of crap in my "gaming/spare room" from when we moved a few months ago, its just the heats been unbearable without an air conditioner and I can only paint at night and in the living room of all places. Ive found so many projects that I never finished so I've got plenty to keep me busy through the coming winter (Tau, Knights of Blood, Vostroyans, Daemons, an army of over 500 Night Goblins etc.)

Such kind words! although my intentions to be humorous were only realised when I discovered the recipients were actually as deranged and left of centre as I am! :-)

suffice to say from then on in you all just encouraged me to be, well, a liitle bit odd! especially Pyriel, who's sense of humor is riiiight up my alley! and Cracker who's epic beard leaves no end of conversation possibilities!
and of course jirc! who's epic mega pm's rival the Harry Potter novels and give me something to look forward to to read before bed!

I just love Dakka and the people I've made friends with are just brilliant! and i'm bloody certain we'll all be amusing each other for years to come! or until someone decides to put Pyriel in a home for the clinically insane! (don't worry though, the beds are comfy!)

I have a small update of something for you though!

I managed to undercoat some of my Salamanders models, namely the bodies of the 5 man dev squad as i'm waiting for the weapons from the interwebs to get to me! gonna be sweet when they get here! they just have a base colour of Orkhide shade but for the rest of my models I'll hopefully be using army painter angel green primer to lay down the base coat on them all.



I also had a fiddle with my dreadnought, it was going to be used for my marines exemplar army but I got the itch to do something and decided to try using brownstuff for the first time, I figured sculpting blobs of rock or scale should be a nice easy way to introduce myself to it's tacky qualities!




I think the left panel need something as well but I'll figure out what soon, maybe a dragon head? that'll test me!

and I got the family together for a group photo!

shows them a little better, but they're still not done as i had the shakes today! too much coffee and helping a mate out after he broke off his engagement! big day for the Nerd!


well it goes without saying it's good to be back even if it's only a minimal post but don't give up on me and I look forward to seeing you all and following what you've been up to as well soon! hope everyone 's doing great!

Thanks lenny! I think i'll find some of those brass etched sheets! i didn't realise they had them and that would be perfect for what I need for his imagery! :-) save me from pulling my hair out trying to sculpt something resembling decent!

and I'd love that dread! he is such a sweet model, shame they didn't bring him out with a contemptor body as well or i'd have already bought him! :-)

keep checking back and i'll try and get some work up in a week or so finished for everyone to crit!

Do not use that tutorial it´s a really horrible way to do scales.

I´ll give you some lessons in how to do it before you ruin your nice salamanders minis.

I used the tute and I liked how they came out, but I will definitely defer to you on this one Pyriel.

as usual Pyriel you have a way with words that leaves no one in doubt of your thoughts! I will look forward to learning some gs-foo from you then! just another bit of work to put on the plate for you, sculpting,painting gk's,more sculpting, you are busy!

@Lennysmash: yep, that's exactly how I tried to do it too! except mine are quite thick but hopefully with paint it'll be adequate for showing everyone!

No problems Cracker! but this isn't the first time your devil beard has devoured the souls of the innocent is it? I shall keep the info to myself but if any more of my family go missing!..... we may find ourselves having a beard battle of epic proportions! mine may not be as luxurious as yours but it's neatly sculpted demeanor hides a nasty heart and a never say moustache attitude!

Yeah, the poor mods would have nothing to do all of a sudden, I actually add up to the excuse of more mods being needed at dakka.
Strangely somehow they dont show any appreciation for this, I mean I like vacations like the next guy so when one gave me a short one maybe that was as a thanks for creating more jobs for the dakka mod community?

Hi´s job is not that great all the time, you should see the things he is supposed to find corresponding electrical plugs for on occasion, makes me shudder

My job on the other hand, well one of them at least, has me sitting on a couch watching tv, sculpting (doing my other job that is) and being paid handsomly to do so, lol.
Best part is I actually do my job and do it well while getting paid to do my second job that also happens to be my hobby.
