Thanks people, glad you like it.
@ghostmaker: What Daemonhunters?
Soo.. I had this in pieces.. thought I'd put it together and throw a lick of paint on it. Mind you this one's very very much a wip, metal's not done yet and the osl is in it's infant stages.
What do you guys think?

Exactly this.
Looks great man, clearly Necron and clearly a character, but without being OTT like some character designs; love it and the use of the Nightbringer(?) base.
Any more Alpha Legion progress upcoming?

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!
"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
—Captain Khârn of the World Eaters Legion's 8th Assault Company, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions |

Well what do you know, whenever you think you will get some time to spend on your hobby life comes running throught the door, dumps a cartload of work on your head; then flees through the window.
Guess what.. I have another Alpha Legion project.
I had a load of parts over from my other projects so I thought hey, let's do something silly. I hope you like this one Alpharius.
Now, I am not that sharp with the sculptingtool but I try to not make a complete mess of it.
First wip of the Mk V Marine.
So what do you think? Have at it folks!

The best True-scale conversions I've seen actually just add bits to the normal marine legs to lengthen them. It looks great and its right here on dakka: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/437416.page Enjoy. edit: link posted

@ Capitansolstice: heh, it's still wip. I need to greenstuff the rear of the geaves, give him some thicker bootsoles with plasticard and find some source of 1mm-beads to make the studs on the shoulder and geaves.
@ Imperial Monkey: those are quite cool but the problem with torso size do mean that you need to cover the entire midriff with puches and stuff and it looks a bit off to me.

That looks pretty damn good! Nice one.
I do think that Migsula's way is slightly better though, he puts 1mm in the legs. I think it makes the proportions better:

I've found that just widening a normal torso, using terminator legs and putting a spacer in between the legs and torso does an adequite job of getting the scale across. It's what I use, at least.
There's more in my blog, too

Did you check out Lamenter's website?
http://masteroftheforge.com/
He's got some sick alpha legion on there too.
I think there's something to be said for widening the backpacks... especially on loyalist marines, but I've recently just gone down this path myself and the backpack you used there is pretty good. I was just for a second tricked into thinking it was a normal model which is great.

@ Vitruvian XVII: Thank you, and ah.. Migs.. let's not.. compare me with Migs m'kay? He's quite a lot better at the whole greenstuff-dance than I am.
@ Prime12357: I tested that at first but I felt it needed too much GS-work to add the appropriate bulk to the torso. And yes, I have been keeping a weather eye on that blog.
@ Meade: Yes, I am aware of Lamenter's work, great sculpter that guy. And yes, for the regular backpacks they Do need to be widened. These old, old plastic ones are just perfect as they are (after some minor cutting and gluing).

I found that the amount of GS work needed to enlarge the torso was not too large, and not as demanding as I thought it would be. I just stuck a blob in between the two halves of the torso to thicken it a bit, and then stuck some more onto the front of the chest and rounded it into the right shape (more or less). And, as my ever-uplifting father puts it, "you never know how bad you'll do at something until you try it out."
As for the blog, It's updated...
Cheers!

The Captain on page one? Let's see.. helmet, chest and arms are from the Blood Angels Deathcompany box with some detail trimmed off. The right hand and swordgrip and also the legs are from the sanguinary guard box, the sword itself (blade & hilt) is a Biting Blade from a striking scorpion exarch and the shoulderpads come from the space marine command box. The backpack once belonged to a Kharn the betrayer model and has seen some modest trimming to the vents.
@ Prime12357: Hah, I know exactly how bad I am with GS. Thats why I try to keep it to a minimum. Also, and the biggest problem really, is that I am far too impatient to wait for it to harden. When I am on a roll I don't want to stop and it makes me a pile of nervous tics when I can't finish because I have to wait fore something to cure. so then I keep ending up trying to ''work around'' the curing GS and eventually stick my fingers or something else into th still-soft GS.

Thats how we roll in the shire.
The trick to good conversions are an ample supply of different parts, Coffee (well, what WE call coffee, italians would probably classify it as 'mug of espresso' the french as 'vile poison' and by americans as 'weapon of mass destruction') and a silly mental disposition.

Hah Chem, that swill you drink has nothing to do with coffee; no wonder you drink so much of it. It's more like water that has been stored close to coffebeans but without acctual contact. I am still not sure how you can drink that bland crap.

Sooo.. I have been sculpting a little today.. with varying results.
This is what's curing beneath the lamp so far, once it is hard enough to set an exactoknife and a file in it to trim and smooth things I hope it will look a lot better. I need to add some plasticard stuff too, much easier to get sharp corners and so on..
well, here they are the four boys. Mk III 'Iron', Mk IV 'Maximus', Mk V 'Heresy' and Mk VI 'Corvus'.

Thanks guys, I use Gale Force 9's 'Grey Stuff' for sculpting polari.
So, small update.
I managed to almost finish the Mk V ''Shooter''. He's gonna get a scope and a silencer on his boltgun to finish him off.
Mk IV guy is ready for a basecoat and some paint.
Mk VI 'Support' is also ready for the paints, very satisfied how this one turned out.
Groupshot.
Mk III is in the works.
So, what do you guys think so far? I guess it will be more eye-pleasing once they get their Alpha Legion paintjobs done. Have at it!

I think they look pretty awesome without paint. Needless to say, that your paint job will definitely make them look even better. The group shot really sets them off and makes them look so much more menacing than the standard 28mm marines.
