First offering! Druid and Angry Bear. These guys were so fun to paint... Photos are clicky - zoomy! I spent quite a bit of time on the boy's eyeballs, so hopefully they are utterly adorable!




I have no idea why the bandaids on the back... they are cute though.

Edit 2: Here are the heroes, ready for paint! Thought this might be of interest. Using white primer, and then lined with Vallejo smokey ink. This is to ensure that cartooy effect and yet still ensure bright shiny colors!

1st: You have a bear. A freaking bear and then a midget dressed in a bear!
2nd: You have a midget sorceress
3rd: A WiP of what seems to be a motley band of Midget heroes!
All of them very well painted as well. I very much like the work on the bear and his tiny friend.
At first glance i didn't like the sorceress much but taking another look i like it.
Can't wait to see what happens to the hero crew.

Yes I started with Mr. Angry Bear 1st and little druid dude dressed as bear because the combination is just too cute, yet at same time weird, for words. Ms. Sorceress was a bit weird to paint and I think the metal on her jiggly bits needs some work.

Those look great! I am REALLY tempted to drop some cash on SDE as soon as I have some spare.

The only critiques I really have are on the Sorc. Her eyes don't quite seem to point the same way, and her hair matches her clothes so closely it is a little odd. You might want to put a wash of a deeper color on one just to push the tones apart a bit. They are nice and cool colors though, just perhaps too close.

All right, sorry for the delay. Painting has taken a back seat recently but I'm back in!

Vitruvian and Logg_frogg, thanks so much for the encouragement! I too am really enamored with the fur effect on the bear, and will continue this for the hair, etc, on other minis. It really works for that cartoony effect!

Wehrkind, yes, I totally agree that Ms. Sorceress needs work. She does go a bit Derpy-Do about the eyes, so this will need to be fixed. Dress color I will pull to the blue-er spectrum with some washes / glazes... mebbe a bit redder on the hair, we'll see. Overall, these minis are a very different painting experience from GW, very enjoyable, and I highly recommend!

And updated Sorceress... Colors are getting a bit washed out by the flash. Skirt is a blue-ish purple and hair received a Leviathan Purple wash. Eyes are evened out, as well.

There's something good about bright colours and cartoony violence and these are exceptionally well executed. Although I think theres too many colllours for the SNES/Mega Drive to play the game on....

Thanks! They do make me smile. My favorite so far is the Rogue, she is just so delightfully cute yet evil!

LULZ yes my good old SNES would have had a heart attack and died. I'm going to have to pick up the pace when painting the enemies so a fully painted game can be played!

The beak is plasticard, and is all riveted up using nipped off ends of small platic rod. Wings are also plasticard. The little grot-can Blue bird is all plasticarded up as well. "Blue" is the most finished part. "Red" still needs some work on the driver, his horns, and additional details. Oh, and of course all the little grots!

I'm trying to decide if the grots need to be dressed up, but may just go with them as is... This was an absolute blast to build and paint, had people laughing all the way across the store when working on him. Once he's fully done, I'm gonna have to get him on the table!

There will be two pop-culture references... My musician is in the front rank, striking a dance pose. He will be green stuffed and painted to resemble a very famous zombie/pop-music icon. He's the distinctly lighter grey dude. That big jacket will be bright red with black trim...

The unit filler contains a much more recent reference. I'll be including "Bicycle girl", the half woman zombie in the park from The Walking Dead, season 1.

Anyway, enough with the chatter, right? Here are the pics!
