This is straining the limits of my net book but since my main computer is down I'm going to work on this project as my net book will not handle the Bastion project. I just purchased a six hole rotary punch to make rivets for this.
The fence will be made with wire (unless I can find some rubber tubing the same size), the main part of the structure will be 5mm PVC board (you could substitute with foam board). Card stock, pizza boxes, straws, plastic tubing will also be used.
I will place a big "How To" on Terrain Monster on how to assemble this modular fence/barricade. The gate will be made available in two sizes 2 inch and 3 inch, you can place them side by side to make any length you want.
I've flattened it out and I'm almost done with the templates (should be done with that in the next few days) then probably another few days to cut it out (PVC Board is very strong and a pain to cut) and assemble it. I want enough to go around my bastion.
Hey, like the idea, I didn't know about the Terrain Builder website, so thanks for that, and if you haven't checked out this thread in the painting and modeling forum, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/314348.page, might be good to use for the wire on the barricade. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to seeing the finished product, you going to post a tutorial on here as well.
Not sure what the link goes to as it is coming up broken for me but instead of wire have you considered using window screen - you cut along the horizontals and it gives you a good looking piece of barbed wire - old old scale modeler trick.

Looks good, I'd like to see how it turns out. I could really use some modular stuff, the old' closets gettin full

While rolling a die, do not say, “Anything but a 1!” unless you wish the die to come up as 1. Any other such attempts to anger the “Dice Gods” will result in the existential equivalent of continuously flipping a coin and having it come up heads every time (for reference, see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead). Your dice will be cursed to roll ones for everything other than morale checks, which will come up sixes.
ORK PLAYERS HAVE A LIMIT OF 1 SCREAMS OF WAAAAAAGH PER HOUR. violators will be forced to play tau.
Players with chimeras and las weapons shall pronounce chimera ki-mere-uh, not chim-ere-uh. Violators will be forced to play nothing but world eaters. Non-40k personnel must purchase and build a chimera.
Problems with the fence Measurements. I'm going to have to make a special 3 inch wall and 1 inch wall for the Gate end caps so you can do a full enclosure. I will deal with this issue later. Right now I will keep things as they are and just run a non enclosed fence.

That is what my wife said! Although it was not my intention.
I realised I made a mistake with the gates. So I have corrected my error.
Now to actually have a full enclosure you have four different gates to use. 2 inch, 1.5 inch, 1 inch, and 0.5 inch. This will allow you to use different door configurations. I still need to work on the big old 6 inch gate yet.
A 2 inch gate end with a 2 inch gate.
A 1.5 inch gate end with a 3 inch gate
A 1 inch gate end with two 2 inch gates
A half inch gate end with a 3 inch gate and a 2 inch gate
Hopefully it works now. Sorry about that, next time I'll make sure I preview it before I send it out. The thread title is - Nurgle's Rope - How to make realistic barbed wire --+--+--+-- UPDATE: now with poles, if the link doesn't work again. Its a fairly easy way to make some very good looking barbed wire.
I'd be happy to help you work out any bugs w/ the templates if you want, I've got quite a history of using & designing templates. In any event, I'd love to get a copy of them once they're done.

No worries - and its the way I thought it was for making wire. Like the bit with the poles though -

Although logically it makes no sense to have the armour on the side of the gate as it's easy to get in through the fences (probably to stop the larger wildlife from wondering in).
That fence could be electrified remember. Agreed that is very nice, although there are a few gaps that could do with a little bit of filling in with minuscule amounts of GS and then sanded
The actual fence model that I turned out was nice, but it just was not doing it for me. For one thing it was hard to get models right to the fence wall because of the raised base. The models would just fall off. Not good if your trying to defend or assault units.
So I've started to redesign it. I have not added any flourish designs to it yet, that will come later.
So there is fence version 2. It contains more wiring making it harder to climb over, it also has a larger base so units can stand next to it and be stabilised. The top of the posts are vaguely like a bird so it kind of fits in with the 40k universe. I've done away with most of the angles in favour of a more rounded and curved look. It still offers the same kind of gate system with one additional gate and now gun slits added to the gates.
I think the side gate walls look much better than the older version.
Yet more changes to my Fence system. I've added some defensive spike to protect vs. Assault units and vehicles. I've also made some major changes to the gates. I've added a simple hinge system to them and some spikes.
damn this is looking sweet!
did you already release plans for this yet or is it still in a WIP phase for now?
im loving a lot of the different designs, and i think that the dubble door is really unique
i was thinking of using The Army Painters Razerwire for the fencing though
What software are you using for that? The fence is looking pretty good. I could see some razor wire around the top outside edge. Especially with the new post design. I really like it.
If you haven't already done so, take this to kickstarter.
