Hey, so I've googled it a few different ways, and while I found multiple tutorials for greenstuffing fire, I could never find that particularly applied to my idea.

What I want to do is have a unit of Tzeentch Chaos Knights with the hooves of the horses all ablaze and flying. I suppose it would very similar to the Headless Horseman's mount in World of Warcraft, but of course with actual flames, something more like this I suppose, but of course it would look more as if in motion, since the horses would be flying in a charging stance.

Spoiler:

So far I could only find guides for applying flames on swords and as stand alone. Perhaps the same methods would work, but if anyone else has a link they could throw my way that might of better use, I would greatly appreciate it.

Generally you just get a small blob of the stuff then carefully tease it up to a point with a needle, modeling knife or fine tipped sculpting tool.

Essentially what you start at will be the tip and you sort of work out the sides of it.

The problem with good looking fire isn't the sculpting. You sculpt fire in a similar way to the way you do fur.

No, the problem is painting it. For how cool fire may look in the GS phase, it's just going to look awful when you paint it. Bright colors quickly become pastels, and dark colors really look cartooney.

As fire is something that glows with an inner light, no opaque medium will make it look good.

I made about 8 torches for my night goblins (yes, surprise, surprise I play gobbos, too) and this method works best. Painting it is the harder part.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

I asked this question a while back:

Someone linked me this tutorial and it helped me tremendously:

First time trying, I got these rather acceptable results:

When you do get to painting, try out fluorescent/day-glo paints or pigments. They're significantly brighter than normal paints, although not as colorfast so they'll eventually fade. They should help to combat the issue that Ailaros brought up, at least partly. Massive Voodoo has a good explanation, along with some very nice examples.

I tried using some on my living saint model's torch, here:
