Are they worth taking?

In peoples experiences do they actually save your company/platoon command squads?

In general, no
you are better off just taking more men than upgrading them with anything but weaponry as guard, in general.

It's rare to be hit by something that's below strength 6 and not AP1-3 or power weapon.
So, no.
Maybe if you had a really expensive CCU with kell and creed.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

Exactly what everyone else has said. If they are in a chimera, well, it's better to just trust in that. If they are on foot, any savvy opponent will manage to shoot them up with weapons that deny it - FNP is worth much less for a small T3 squad than on a load of space marines.

Most people use a CCS as a mobile unit, 4 special weapons inside a transport. In that case you don't need a medipack, they will do their job without one and are disposable.

Some people use their CCS more or less static, to give orders or morale effects to the army and maybe pitch in with a HWT. In that case stay in cover and it should be enough, why spend 30pts maybe preserving a unit which is not actually that valuable.

A few people take straken, bodyguards, kit their unit out and attack. In this case it might be a good idea, but a combat command squad is more of a fun unit, not recommended if you're up against savvy opponents with strong armies.

Eldar Corsairs: 4000 pts
Imperial Guard: 4000 pts

Corregidor 700 pts
Acontecimento 400 pts

Fair enough.

Ill prob just use mine as an order giving morale booster unit type deal.

This is how I run them

creeds squad can stay out of LOS, so he's less of an issue

besides that I usually have a CCS and 3 or so PCS's on the table, plenty of redundency incase one gets shot down.

With Straken or Creed's Company Command Squad, consider taking one.

With anyone else, don't bother. They're too expensive for the small number of models they affect.
