Practice, practice, practice, and remember to work in layers with plenty of lubrication. I absolutely hated the material when I first started using it, but after messing around with it off of models, suddenly something clicked.
As for tutorials, I've found that by and large, sculpting is sculpting. Even if it's not for a piece you plan to recreate, don't pass up any decent tutorials. Skills transfer from project to project and having a larger "toolbox" is never a bad thing. Don't have links to the ones I've found most helpful handy, because I've read so damn many, at this point. Youtube has a ton of videos, but quality varies widely (same with Dakka).
If you see any P&M threads with good sculpting work, pop in and see if the OP has made any tutorials, or can point you in the direction of any. Those that sculpt more and more recently usually have a better sense of where to send a relative newbie than someone like me.
