Damn! Since it was designed originally for around 17,000 images there are a few areas where it is a bit long in the tooth. I've got a change list / bug list / new feature list that is about 1KB in length, so there is a lot of work planned on it over the coming year, but just thought I'd take a moment to thank everyone who has shared their images and the moderators who keep it all clean and spam free! Thanks!

Check out the top images of the past 7 days and enjoy the largest miniature gallery humanity has ever known:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-search.jsp?sort1=5&st=7

p.s. You'll be pleased to know that I verified the gallery backup yesterday, so there is a 100% complete copy of the gallery in the event of hard drive failure. The total size of the gallery's image files is now an impressive 384GB.

There's some great stuff on that page, there's a lot of things in the gallery that don't get much prominence on the main forum in the painting and modelling sections.

300K eh? I'll never get through that lot, I am trying! :p

Judging by your vote count, Howard, you're the best chance we've got!

It looks like the gallery is growing faster than any of us could ever hope to keep up with, individually. Can't say that's a bad thing, as long as Lego manages to keep it from crumbling under its own weight. Seeing as it's currently well over 15 times its originally projected capacity and functioning, I've got faith.

Cheers to Lego, the gallery mods, and all the users who contribute by adding images and especially by voting/tagging!

So assumeing it took you exactly 10 seconds to load, view and rate a picture... it would take you around 35 days of nonstop work to view and rate them all.

That's one of the other fun things - the gallery has become a community in itself, and there are a lot of people there who have no interest in chatting, but will work off each other's images. Some of the biggest names in the gallery dont post in the forums, and some of the most frequent image commenters have forum post counts in just the double digits.

The vast majority of my pictures are WIPs, and I try to make sure hat voting is disabled on them. I need to work harder on making sure I do some voting though.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

The Dark Angels command squad (below) won the German Golden Demon in 2005 for Best WH40K squad. Fredy must be Manfred Hautz. http://demonwinner.free.fr/germany/2005/golden_demon_winner.php?categorie=5

He also is on CMON: http://www.coolminiornot.com/artist/fredy?browseid=148496
