For your consideration, I wish to show off my Death Korp of Kreig uniform. it is 70% scratch-built, 30% found-item. It took about a month to create from start to finish.

Nice to know that the DKOK devote proper time for their tea, even when fighting for the Emperor.

Seriously, though, nice. That looks brilliant.

thank you very kindly!

LOL the tea thing spawned from a joke amongst my friends. I shot these photos in my folks home, because it is decorated very Victorian-era like, which I thought was a good backdrop to this kind of costume. At one point I shot a photo of my gas mask work-in-progress on the table which happened to have the red tea set in the frame.

So I said, heck Ill just make a quick funny shot of the DKoK guardsman sitting down to tea! So far its everyone's favorite lol

This weekend Im wearing it to a con. I have a friend who is a professional photographer who has offered to shot the costume for me. I also plan of getting some shots outdoors as well. The weather is gray and wet out here and the drizzled dismal countryside would make for a good set as well! Ill post all of those as I get them done up.

Thank you. I spent a lot of time trying to pin it down just right. Luckily I have a lot of older militaria I can use as reference, to bridge that gap between implied-though-art and realistic real-world object.

I really like it! Are you also working on set of gloves to protect from all thoose nasty chemical attacks? Do you also have proper boots and pants as part of the costume? It is hard to see on the pictures. So far it is really great, but a Krieg style lasgun with bayonet would make it perfect.

I do have the pants and boots. I wear a pair of cavalry boots, but also have laced boots and gators. I just prefer cavalry boots
I wear jodhpurs for the pants. Though I can also substitute with proper wool trousers, both German and American cut. Oh! The gloves. I have a pair of martial arts gloves. They were fingerless but have a huge pad on the back, which looks very close to the minis. I also have a pair of leather gauntlet gloves as well.

I meant to make the lasgun and bayonet :( It depends on if I can knock it out tomorrow or not. I leave Thursday night for the con. I agree that is definitely finishes the look. A soldier without arms is kinda... derp. lol Thats why I just used my mausers in this photo set.

Only thing I will say is gloves, gloves, gloves, gloves! DKoK never show flesh!

Other than that, best DKoK outfit I've seen so far, cracking attempt sir - you've nailed it to a tee.

Love it! All you need are some gloves and a lasgun...have you though about tinting the lenses for the gasmask?

I will definitely remember to wear gloves. I have been racking my head over making the lenses less transparent. I will run around tomorrow and see if any auto places have window tint. I had some lighting gel from theater but those dont make them any less transparent, just change the color of the light passing through them.
I will be wearing my DKoK guardsman kit on Saturday at Ohayocon. The other days I have other costumes So def look for me!

Another thought - You would use a shotgun instead of a lasgun...those are in DKoK troops, right?

WIN!

Discussions are floating around for a pair of DKoK to be appearing at 2014 Games Day in Nottingham. The most difficult parts to source and nail, we believe, would be the helmet and facemask. How did you make the facemask?

The hunting lance would be sweet, and easier to make. But too large to maneuver around the convention center with all those folks around. I do plan on wearing my spurs for extra awesomeness Dismounted cavalry?

Extreme nerdyness Yes, I rock it. lol

I dont know about the shot guns. hmm.... Ill have to look that up!

My helmet is an original WWII German Stahlhelm, model M-35. I was going to put the fin on top made from styrene and affixed with putty so it was temporary. I do NOT condone ruining historic artifacts for costumes. This helmet came from Poland where after the war they used them in the fire brigades. They are in good shape and are painted black. Reproduction liners are available for re-enactors and kind of expensive but worth it.

Also, the pre WWII Spanish civil war helmets made by Germany look so close to WWII stahlhelms that you cant go wrong. They are far cheaper, lighter and usually banged up a little which is awesome for "battle damage" or worn-in look.

The gas mask was originally a Russian civilian model gas mask you can get easily on ebay. With an exacto knife I cut it apart into subsequent sections. Then affixed the front "armour" section, which is made from styrene, covered with canvass and painted with watered down hobby paint (water-based acrylic).
