Subject: Most powerful Marines?
|
 |
Bounding Assault Marine
|
This is just a comparison thing after reading so many arguments about certain armies being overpowered.
I made a decent SM list and then changed it to BA, SW and GK counterparts. So they're all 1500pts lists with model count of 36 (except GK for being super elite have only 35)
Now if these armies were to fight each other, which one would you think would win?
*edit*
Hopefully noone takes this too seriously and get annoyed/mad.

Now in this case the normal marines or the grey knights.
You're not really using the other codicies to the full, as you're transferring an army from one book to another, and each book works very differently.
Also all of the armies could be improved, even keeping that kind of theme.
(Also I voted based on the thread title before even reading....sorry)
So in general I would say space wolves. (definitely between them and grey knights)

Problem with the BA list is that it isn't taking advantage of what BA offers (Assault squads as troops, multiple fast mech, DOA)

Yeah, I agree with optimusprime14. Blood Angels rely on speed and getting into close combat quickly with a sanguinary priest or two to boost their S and I (and give them feel no pain). Tactical squads are RARELY used with Blood Angels. I would say replace those tac squads with points equivalent Assault Marines with Jump packs. If you want without jump packs try putting them in razorbacks. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, I have yet to play a Grey Knight player who DOESN'T fill his troop choice slots with terminators or paladins.... Not too sure as to how accurate that GK list is to what is actually played by people.

Yes I think this post is quite useless since not of the list is optimized for it's own codex and this transferring system is definitely not a good option. Plus most people will vote without even reading the topic just assuming it is a normal which codex is more OP question.

These choices for the BA list are not good: Troops Tactical Squad (10) - Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sergeant - Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon Transport: Rhino - Stormbolter Tactical Squad (10) - Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sergeant - Bolt Pistol, Power Fist Transport: Razorback - Twin-Linked Lascannon (Tactical marines do not belong in a BA list) Heavy Support Devastator Squad (5) - 4x Heavy Bolter, Sergeant - Chainsword, Storm Bolter (Use Missile launchers instead of heavy bolters) Dreadnought - Missile Launcher, Twin-Linked Lascannon Dreadnought - Missile Launcher, Twin-Linked Lascannon (These kind of Dreads do not belong in a BA list) As for the terminators they should have 2 or 3 TH/SS, and they need to ride in a LR Redeemer with a terminator armored and SS equipped Libby

The way I worked was this. When I first read the codex what did I think?
Normal marines "wow loads of options! Very strong, loads of good stuff"
Space Wolves "some powerful stuff here and how many HQs?"
Grey Knights "hard as all-hell but limited options so I can see the weaknesses to exploit!"
Blood Angels "good grief, this is a super army, anyone with any sense can put together a mighty, mighty force to beat anything anytime"
I have always thought BA are the most powerful codex and I hold to that, based on the fact that hey have everything other marines have and also some other really, really powerful stuff that is hard to combat. I think they shade in ahead of Space Wolves as for me Death Company and the heroes are more deadly than even the Long Fangs and SW heroes. The GK are vulnerable to sound tactics as they are largely one-dimensional whereas BA have so many options!
