Apparently it was intensely terrible.

I've heard bad things about the Demo as well. I understand that a lot of those issues are fixed in the Final copy.
I never play Demos though, I always feel they can ruin the experience.
I've already purchased it on steam anyway, lol. Just waiting for that magical download time!

I was pleasantly surprised by the demo, even though it was apparently like an outsourced 4 month old build. IGN had an extensive preview story and they just now released their review; they gave it a 9/10.
I for one will certainly be getting this, I'm just need to decide between 360 or PC. My one gripe is the character design, it's a bit too WoW-ish and cartoony, and all the playable male characters look terrible. Automatically Appended Next Post: MrDwhitey wrote:Friend of mine downloaded the demo and tried it.

That's surprising, I can understand why it might not be a game for everyone, but "intensely terrible" I wonder what horrors your friend encountered

That's an odd take on demos, I for one get very annoyed when big games or MMO's don't have trials/demos makes me think they're trying to hide something. Also the fact that you bought it anyway is pretty brave I must say!

Despite graphical issues, I would play it on console by preference. Its like Fable, but without almost every problem Fable had.

It was originaly intended as one, hence the vast world and such. Though they don't exclude the possibilty of a future MMO from this franchise, if it takes off in anyway I reckon.

Played the demo, really considering getting it. Okay the main reason I played the demo was for the Mass Effect 3 items it unlocks, (one of them requires you go the full 45mins after the countdown begins for anyone interested) but hey, it was quite fun. I really liked the dodge and combat mechanics, throw in acceptable looking characters, and lots of styles and looks via items worn, and yeah Its very possible I might pick this up.

38 Studios is an interesting little company. I'm still waiting but I'm curious to see what a baseball player can pull off in the games industry
That and I hate Blizzard but love Diablo style games and unless those ex-Iron Lore employees get Grim Dawn done anytime soon maybe this can be my fix.

Ah that explains the hide helm option, which many single player RPG's don't bother with. Made me very happy to see that option, I do admit its an odd thing to be happy about, but I'm happy none the less.

Yeah armour and gun, think you get the armour for starting the Demo, and the gun for doing the full 45mins after it says, you have 45mins to play. (Basically once you get out of the Gnome place.)
I could of course have those totally the wrong way round.
Apparently the Mass Effect 3 Demo will unlock two kingdoms items in reverse.

Picking it up tonight if possible. Huge open world (well, guided open world), plus darksiders/GoW style combat = instant buy.
Demo was a bit buggy, but all has been fixed in release; I encountered a few in my 5ish demo playthroughs.
Melissa, lots of customization is possible. Male, female, lots of looks, slider bars, etc. Just download the demo, all the customization options are in that.

Aye very happy with the female create options, even a Drow was possible if I wanted.
No voice work for the heroes, but I think I have been spoiled a little by Mass Effect when it comes to that. Much harder providing voices for male and female characters in games with multiple races.

The camera was VERY dodgey when i had a go at it. The camera looked bad in the gameplay videos but when i got my hands on it, it was even worse. Even the Ninja gaiden style auto-centre is really sluggish to react when you press it Otherwise the game seemed pretty good, bit annoyed it has the same problem darksiders had: Will probs pick it up. Though i may just wait for the Witcher 2 360.

I tried the demo. If kingdoms of Amalur wasn't a full priced sixty buck game, I'd get it. As it is, I just can't afford to spend that much on a single game right now...

Funnily enough, I wound up buying it after I tried the demo.
Honestly, I'm with daedalus-templarius on this one. Open-world game with Darksiders/God of War style combat just made me buy it on the spot. Even if the "combos" were kinda lame (mash LMB to win), I gotta say that the open style of class looks brilliant - just the idea that I can choose to go full-on 100% warrior, or I can mix and match to make a rogue/mage hybrid (and every other combination). I foresee a lot of replaying, if only to try different class combinations.

Actually it reminded me more of dragon age 2 (another game I still need to buy)....

Didn't R.A.Salvatore write the story/lore for Amalur? Regardless, I'll still be picking this up some time. I may wait for some LP's on YouTube before I make my decision.

It goes live in two hours here, so hopefully by the time I wakeup, it'll be done downloading.

I tried the demo, enjoyed it for the most part. Got to where your character created spectral weapons and murderizes things, and when asked how he says "I just do it".
That REALLY turned me off the game.
Normally I wouldn't mind, but they are talking about how they have Salvatore and Mcfarlene and some random guy who made oblivion making this MASTERPIECE, yet I'm greeted with a cop out not but 15 minutes in.
