Those little mixing straws for coffee make good pipes after being primed and cut. Also pastel chalk dust makes perfect rust, dirt and mud.

That is a horrible horrible color for a rug....
Nice work on the board though. I can't tell form the picture but if the bowls used to make the towers are styrofoam hit them with a coat of Gesso before you spray paint them or they will desolve. Same goes for anything else made of styrofoam on the board.

Cool look, very Tau-esque it seems. The other way to deal w/ spraying styrofoam is to buy a water-based spray, it doesn't eat the foam.

Looks like a Tau or Eldar board you have going there. Nice job if that's the theme you're going for.
Regarding styrofoam, I'm building my own terrain as well and what I like is stuff called Mod Podge. It's a waterbased, non-toxic glue/sealer that I brush on the foam before painting it. It seals in the pores preventing paint from absorbing into the foam. It comes in Matte, Satin, Gloss and I think a few other finishes. I found mine at Walmart but I've also seen it at Michaels and can be found online. After the Mod Podge dries I then paint it with just regular craft store acrylic paint and throwaway brushes.

I can see premeasuring being a problem but if its a casual home game it should be cool! this is kinda what I'm working on in my P&M blog (sig) I'm doing my cities of death on 1ft x 1ft tiles but with some 2x1 and 2x2 tiles to have some center pieces or whatever. but yeah your boards coming along great! what did you base it on?

Yeah just myself and a few other dudes.1ftx1ft is the way 'im going as well...Good idea about the bigger pieces.
i used to flip houses and have a bunch of left over tiles.they have been sitting around for a few years.Better put to war than collecting dust....plus free99 is a good price!
Not really baseing it on anything.what ever comes to mind thus far.Planning on having a mixture of building some very modern or sci fi if you will.Others will have a more classic brick and cement feel.Plus bunkers and all that other good sh!T.
