Hi, I bought the finecast Nurgle DP. I wan't it to fly around on a cone of filth and corruption like the Blight Drone (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/AlternativeFW/xlarge/Bdrone5.jpg).

However, I can't decide what should make it fly;

Pure magic? As in no wings, no nothing, just the cone of filth.

Wings like a normal DP?

Some form of rotor device like the Blight Drone?

Being carried in chains or something else, by other daemons?

I'm currently mostly leaning towards nothing at all, or just wings of some kind. I know the FAQ explicitly decrees that a DP must have wings attached in order to fly, but I honestly don't care - My main objective is to make it look good.

For those who don't know, this is the DP i'm talking about:



I intend to take off the legs, and have the cone of filth spray out from there.

The cone of filth idea would look awesome! you should make some flies to buzz round him!

He should ride just a wave of filth, would look far more awesome than just some wings etc.

I actually thought about that. Any idea if its possible to buy like a bag of assorted miniature bugs?

What about wings and he's spreading the filth in his path?

Quick idea to add in when you mix in troops and such mix a couple with skeletons as if they're being digested by it.

Maybe instead of wings you could use some kind of jump pack for him.

Yes, a turbine/jump pack would look better on that model than wings.I do like the wave of filth idea though.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have plans for another DP with a jumppack thingie o his pack, so I don't think I'll use it for this guy aswell.

Bah, noone will listen to GW FAQ on that point. HAS to have wings added, not jet pack? I'm not paying any attention to it. Convert it how you like.

I know about that one, and I doubt it will be held in high regard at my local club, otherwise people are free to not play against me

And thanks for the tip about Zinge, I'll check that out.

With a bit of GS for rotting, falling of wing skins, these wings might be good.

Well.... you could do a giant pile of snot trailing after him in a tidal wave.... you could do a giant swarm of insects, but this might be hard to do....

you could GS the flies, maybe upscale them a bit? once done, whatever you do, its gonna look good, as wings also look ace, especially the idea heartserenade had with the zombie dragon wings.

Some friends of mine use white rice and PVA glue, washed in Devlan Mud and watered down Thraka Green, to make awesome maggot floods for their Plague Marine tanks.

I'm pretty sure that the ruling about wings and jump-packs only applies to Lords or Sorcerors who have a choice of the two.

It was most likely to stop people from claiming that jump packs were wings to allow them to be put inside transports. Wings have to be modelled appropriately to stop people from claiming an unfair advantage.

Daemon Princes wouldn't be able to use transport regardless of whether they were using jump packs or wings anyway, due to their monstrous creature unit type, so I don't think that this little clarification applies to them.

Wings aren't counted for shooting at or assaulting, so there's little modelling for advantage gain.

MCs who can fly are required to have wings modelled onto them, in line with the game's overall WYSIWYG rule.

How about a pair of disgusting bug-/other insect -wings? Something with transparent paper?

Well there is the classic jet turbine engine for wings. With out wings (put still can use wings for WYSIWYG) Personally I went for the jet engine look. You could do one giant rocket like the storm boyz have. That could look cool. Give him some welding glasses, and an old bomber helmet from like WWI or WWII.

I have also seen the dreadnought conversions. Half machine Half nurgle goodness. Personally i would say no wings. But then again a surfing sewage daemon prince would be a cool idea. Might be a pain to get water effects to make a pipe so he can ride the waves. Wearing some beach shorts and sun glasses, With the nose of the model with a little bit of sun screen on it. Yup thats what you should do. Surfing nurgle DP.

Green stuff a little bit of tubes on him and add a little like back pack jumper thing with nurglings inside. Say it makes him jump in and out of the warp at the expense of small nurglings.
