I played my first fateweaver chaos demons list a few weeks ago and got my ass handed to be, all those rerolls on the saves meant my ranged firepower just bounced off and his bloodcrushers and bloodthirster rampaged my army up close.

How do people generally deal with fateweaver? run away from him and try and bait models out of the 6 inch range? or just pour so much fire into him that he might start to fail even his re-rolls? I thought about throwing Jaws at him but it will only kill him on a 6 so its not really gonna be a reliable solution.

I play a spacewolves list with 2 full units of long fangs, rune priest some thundercav with a lord usually a vindicator and some las/plas razorbacks and 2 big blocks of grey hunters in rhinos. Pretty standard wovles stuff and its not bad vs most other lists ive come up against.

Shoot the crap out of him with small arms fire. Bolters work well. He only has 3 wounds. Deal enough wounds to him, he'll fold. Also, if you ever deviate from SW and try Vanilla or BA marines, you have access to sternguard. He doesn't like Sternguard...you'll force too many saves on him and he can't make them all. And sometimes, you only need to do one wound to send him packing. Saturation is key.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Problem with focus fire sometimes on big bird is that if the dice arent going your way the crushers can get too close with no wounds done to them.

Sometimes you have to play to the mission or treat them like a drop pod army and reserve things till he drops so he isnt in your face.

Regardless of your approach it will take quite an effort to kill that many crushers even without the bird.

Oh and one last thing, the vindicator kinda is working against you vs daemon since they cant be insta killed and only ever take 1 wound. You may add a predator or more long fangs if youre really worried about it.

You may also add a wolf lord with saga of the bear and toss him in the twc to add some punch.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

Yeah i run him with bear already with a thunderhammer, i use him for killing dreadnoughts or smashing important ICs that dont have eternal warrior which generally works well. Yeah the vindicator is not ideal vs demons cause none of them can be tapped out and its just one wound per model - its a bit cheap to list taylor but i maybe i could run a couple of land speeders with dual heavy bolters instead of the vindicator - would be nice vs necrons or dark eldar as well maybe.

Speeders can definately be handy. I liked the mm and tml since it served anti light or a land raider suicide squad. Though the dual heavy bolters could be good too. I dont know your meta as well as you. lol

Quite often people build lists to take out MEQ, lists built around that tend to not do that great against daemons because of the invo's and such.

That being said going with land speeders with the heavy bolters would probably help you taking out Fateweaver and like you said they would be useful against DE or Necrons.

Best bet is go with lots of small arms fire to kill Fateweaver, you need weight of fire not high str.

Personally, shot him out of the sky and then assault him in mass numbers. Fateweaver is good in the psykic phase, but that means nothing when you are locked in hand to hand several rounds of combat. There is only two types of powers fateweaver can cast when he is locked in.

Armies:
The Iron Waagh: 10,000+ 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-7-1
Salamanders: 5,000 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-2
Ultramarines: 4,000
Armored Battle Company (DKoK): 4000
Elysians: 500
Khorne Daemons: 2500
