I've been looking at a LOT of army lists (Both people playing against necrons, and people playing AS them)
And I have yet to see a single Doom Scythe, I am wondering why.

I know it is AV 11, and a Skimmer, however, there seems to be a viable tactic here since it can move up to 12 inches and shoot or deep strike and shoot
Now, the death ray on it places a marker anywhere in a 45' arc, up to 12 inches, then you roll 3d6, and draw a line, anything that line touches, takes a strength 10, AP 1 hit...

Now, it is unlikely it would survive after firing within 12 inches, however, that shot can hit multiple units in multiple squads, as well as vehicles. Its strong enough to insta-kill most models, pop rhinos with ease, and wouldn't have much trouble with even land raiders. It then can fire a PAIR of tesla destructors at any squad or vehicle it hit

It really is the ultimate glass cannon, a real risk/reward weapon. Cover saves could aid survivability, as could deep striking. For 200 points, does ANYONE think this thing is under-represented at the moment?

No, I think the model is just weird and has not come out, and no one can make a fairly accurate representation of it.

I made 3 wooden ones and one out of lego's, they look ok and from scale to the picture they're pretty dead on.

You're not going to see a lot of people playing it, as there is currently no model available for it.

Look to JY2's battle Reports on his "MTO" List, to get an Idea of how the Doom Scythe works.

In short, it's a Glass cannon. It can wreck pretty hard, but it pretty much has "Target Priority #1" on it. It's also Dark Eldar Quick, without the open topped.

I think it's also designed for 6th edition rules. I'm sure you'll start seeing more pop up when the model is available, and perhaps even more if the 6th edition ruleset has a positive impact on it.

When I went through the Necron codex it was the unit which looked the strongest to me.

Toss in the ability to force nightfighting and it just seems stupidly strong. I think the lack of model for it is really the only reason you don't see them.

I think that pretty much all goes without saying; if it's under represented, it's most likely because there's not model for it yet. I think necron players constantly imagine scenarios where they are able to keep the Doom Scythe in play for more than 1 or 2 turns - Jy2 seems to have figured out a way to do it, evidenced by this battle report (and a few other similar ones)

Pretty good shooting on their part in that battle report. Don't think they quite made up their points cost, but, then again, he shot well to take them both down after one round of combat.
Thank you for the link.

To everyone, I know the model isn't out yet, but I'm surprised nobody has proxied night scythes for them, I've seen battle reports with home-made kits for those
think next time I up my force size, I'll make some room for them.
