Here's my second Wamped entry, and this time a bit more of a serene vibe. Yup, it's one those darned space pansies!

This is a more technical piece compared to Krull obviously, and as those of you that have been following my WIP may remember, this is the first Failcast mini that I bought that was actually a decent cast!


Being a major fan of the Eldar sculpts since I was a kid, painting this was an absolute dream, and is the first mini that I really wanted to paint, as opposed to just get painted. A very welcome change from churning out commissions, It felt like rediscovering something treasured you thought you'd lost.
Having not painted an Eldar model since I was last into mini painting & gaming in the mid 90's, this was a strangely spiritual and nostalgic experience for me (despite it being a 'new' sculpt), and I can't wait to get the opportunity to do some more now.

The free hand is unreal. I almost completely looked over the water effects, and when I finally noticed them I was amazed. Freakin' jaw dropping.

I totally missed the water effects, I was so caught up in the rest of the mini. Good lord, this mini has everything. I think it might be the perfect miniature. I'm totally serious when I say that, I think this is the best 40k mini I have ever seen. I can tell you this: It's the only mini I have ever seen in a thread and felt so strongly about that I needed to go to the gallery and vote on it.

That is, quite seriously, the best paintjob I've ever seen on any single Eldar model. I don't really like Eldar but I absolutely love what you have done with the model, it's so beautiful. The base is fantastic without drawing attention away from the stunning free-hand, sublime colour co-ordination and overall phenomenal paintjob on the Farseer. My heartiest congratulations sir!

Wow. I echo the above sentiments. Possibly one of the best models I've ever seen. The water on the base is so perfectly executed and so creative... how did you do it!?

Everything about it is sublime, the colours chosen, the execution of said colours, the free hand on the back, well thats just beautiful. I also really love the base, I love the detail you've put into that.

I'm largely with the posters above. The technical quality is top notch. Amazing what detail you managed to fit onto the cloak.

My only gripe with the model is the image on the back of the cloak. Yes, it is superbly executed but when we look objectively at the image we get a little into corny three wolf moon (or in this case dragon two moon) territory of cliched fantasy imagery. I think something moody like some intricate abstract linework would be more fitting.

I think, and someone tell me if i'm wrong, but in his WIP thread, the image was a Japanese thing, so why you could be right, i'm not so sure, I think the image works perfectly (especially if this is going to turn into a whole army, and he keeps the theme going, with similar images on the tanks etc)
