Hey all,
So I purchased a few finecast miniatures from Miniature Market while I was ordering a few items and they had a few defects (I know, big suprise right? ) I called GW about this and they were quick to take care of me, but they were overly interested in where (actual store name) I purchased the miniatures after I said I purchased them from a brick and mortar store that also does online orders.

Maybe I missed it, but is GW really trying attack the online companies again or do you think I just got some overly anxious/passionate GW employee?

Edit: They did not even care about the Batch Number of either mini. I tried to offer that and they were not interested.

They probably want to know how the brick and mortar shops are doing, and which ones are popular...

Although it could be much more sinister...

Perhaps. It just struck me as odd that he was pressing me hard to find out where they were purchased.

They probably didnt want people to buy FC and throw the defective ones back into ebay after they get a replacement.
Which would pretty much double the amount they have to replace.

They cynical side of me says it's a way of controlling the market more tightly. But the other side of me says it's more to control and stop people from ebaying the defects...

P.s. I'm cynical more often than not

I would of thought any defects would be returned and exchanged for a better product?

My local store tells me their rep wants defective parts and they will replace them or something.

Grey Knights- 1500pts 1 Guy done
Chaos Daemons- Approx 5000pts
Slaanesh Daemons- 1500pts, in progress

they usually request returns before sending replacements, but sometimes it just isnt possible, so ship the replacement to save both time and hassle.

It is funny you mention that. I have had 3 finecast returns. Each time, I have proactively offered to return my defects and was told no just keep them.

Only reason for asking the model shipped back to GW (by GW) is to make sure it was actually miscast, and not just someone trying to swindle them.
Remember that prosessing the returned model actually costs GW money (well, employee time which equals money for company).

yeah I have never had to return a model. As scumbaggy as it sounds I bought a rhino and even though I had the parts to replace the damaged door (that is hidden anyways by the outerdoor) I called them up and got a second free rhino knowing full well I wouldn't have to send it back in. And not really caring if I did.

Honestly finecast models are sold at such a huge mark up compared to what it costs GW to make. They could very likely send out 2-3 replacements and still make money.

When in doubt burn it, then burn yourself for doubting.

It also makes me wonder if we should be paying less, since sending more product is obviously no skin off their balls. But knowing GW, I suspect it's us that pays for all these mistakes of theirs. Why else would Finecast cost us more when everything about it is cheaper? Way to pass the savings, GW.
