Just wondering if there is a reason why they lack the following wargear/vehicles/etc:

- Land Speeders
- Bikes/Jetbikes
- Melta weapons for infantry
- Plasma weapons for infantry/vehicles (can understand this one sorta, due to the dangerous nature of the weapon)
- Librarian Dreadnoughts
- NFWs on Dreadnoughts (disregard if they do)
- Storm Shields for infantry besides Draigo
- Predator tanks

I'm curious tis all.

Well I do know that the dreadnoughts have nemesis doom fists on them, so I suppose dreadnoughts do have NFWs. They are already psykers and GK's HATE being put in dreadnought armor so its highly unlikely that a GK librarian would end up in it.

Draigo is special, everyone else is to busy wearing a wrist mounted storm bolter and a NFW, no room for a SS (also OP as heck)

The rest of your questions are pretty much answered by this statement: "GK's use the best of the best weapons ( Psycannons are superior to those weapons in EVERY way)
And will only take machines of war that jive with their style of fighting".

I would argue that. Bikes, landspeeders, and predator tanks are all contra to their M.O.

Not every shadow, but any shadow

You can have Storms Shields on the Crusaders and Warrior Acolytes as well.

You can have Plasma cannons on Razorbacks and Stormravens as well as Warrior Acolytes and Inquisitors.

Bikes and Landspeeders are way too undignified.

Not just that they use the 'best of the best', but they use the weapons best suited for what they need, which is beating the snot through daemons, and while melta and plasma may be what other armies use, GK have psychically charged stuff, holy flamers, etc, they don't want to use the regular stuff because they have what they need in their own armouries.

And the lack of predators and what not, it could just be a matter of space? They only have the one little moon, so much of which is given over to halls of this, armouries of this, that they just don't have the room to test predators, landspeeders, etc.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

GK do a lot of teleporting too which isn't so good for vehicles.

They teleport where they need to go. They don't need recon vehicles.

GKs kill daemons. Those weapons are designed to kill other things, vehicles and heavy infantry respectively, neither of which daemons usually have.

They decided having a gun was a better idea.

Like speeders and melta guns, these fall outside their mission needs.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Do you seriously want to put SS on GK?
Because making them hard to kill is an excellent exercise in game balance. Its not as if they already have instakill melee weapons or access to 2W termies...oh wait.

2+++? How?

GK's in some ruins (4+ cover) bolstered by a GK techmarine to 3+ cover. Then a GK librarian casts Shrouding to make it a 2+ cover.

Complaining about that is like complaining about your enemy being able to spend INCREDIBLE amounts of resources to make ONE bunker that houses ONE squad of troops with a few heavy weapons.... I would laugh at my opponent and ignore the bunker

Stay away until the last turn, then turbo-boost, flat out, what-have-you in to contest the squad that sat around with its thumb up its ass the whole game.

Yep. Nasty. 10 Paladins in 2+ cover including Apothecary with Warding stave, Libby and Draigo and Techmarine with Rad and Psykotroke. I dare you take that objective.

Why not just, ignore the paladins because they are slow and lame, and go take the other objectives?

Im happy with my opponent putting 1300 points in a single set of ruins and chilling there. Its also a hilarious waste of points when the battlefield doesnt have ruins, and the paladin stars opponent has psychic defense.

Still a 2++ is no better than a 2+ against dakka spam. Even with FNP they can eventually be brought down.

180 Boys ( in a Green Tide Apoc unit.with 20 Big Shoota Bkys and Ghraz) with Shootas cause 5 wounds on the unit. Take 1 on the Libby and that leaves 4 Wounded Paladins. That equals D3 Str 6, AP 4 Lg Blasts that will hit something, 16 Psycannon Shots and 10 Stormbolters at BS 4, a Libby PSA presumably Warp Rift or Smite, followed by a Str 5 Flamer from Draigo or his BS 6 Stormbolter. If the Flamers templates both hit 5 Boyz each then 16 Boys will die.Followed by a close.combat, which the Paladins could.do well, as a maximum of roughly 25 boys can attack, plus maybe.the Boss.

If they had all that stuff they wouldn't be Grey Knights, they'd be Ultramarines MKII. Their equipment makes them unique. If you want those units you mentioned you play regular marines. The whole idea behind GKs is that they get to the scene of the problem before anyone else and are gone before anyone arrives. Having heavy armour wouldn't suit this doctrine.

So orks cant shoot roughly 1200 pts of space marines off the board? Very interesting. How would those same shoota boys perform against 3 dreads and 9 razors, or 14 tank guard with shooting?

Unless their PK Nob and Warboss got into.combat, not so well. But remember this is a single unit for Apoc. 10 Paladins is worth about the same as the Green Tide, but have Baneblades and Reavers backing them.up.
