If Meganobz came with the ability to get painboyz, I think it would mostly be a no brainer to take these over Nobz. I know that they are slow and purposeful, true, but the cost of a meganob vs a loaded up nob is cheaper, they have the 2+ save with a 5+ up invuln and FNP with a Painboy. I know that you can achieve this now with Mad Doc, but with mech and the need for a Big Mek with KFF and ideally Ghazy, because his WAAAGH and extra attack and adamantium skull are so much cooler than a regular Warboss (I know some do not agree on this). I just think that if Nobz have access to painboyz, why can Mega nobz, I mean these guys are supposed to be the Nobz that saved up enough 'Teef' for the best equipment right? Why wouldn't that attrack a painboy? It should I think. Just interested in what everyone elses thoughts are? Cheers all and thanks for reading the post....

I agree. I think the reason for not doing it is because it would make meganobs really over powered. I would still want them to lol but I wish nobs could be kitted out like wolf guard where some could have mega armor and still have options for other upgrades

No, Meganobs are already quite resilient and with a Painboy they'd be bordering on OP, Pain bikers already take this position.
|
The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy. |

I don't think that having a mad doc in an orc boy unit over powered. Lets look at what is currently out there:
1. Blood Angles: Terminators with a sang priest running near them. 2+/FNP/5+ invul.
2. GK: Appocathery in termie armor: That unit has 2+/FNP/and storm shields 3+.
So, a cost upgrade from a nob to mad doc for 30 points would be overpowered in a unit that only gets a 2+ save. No invul here. That might be the one thing those GK termie squads would start to fear.

I agree with Blood Angels, GK and Wolves armies already out there, I do not think meganobz with a painboy would be more powerfull than these units, esp termies with storm shields... yikes

They wouldn't be any more OP than Pallies. With the SNP and price for tge model they still wouldn't show up too much. Still, a karge mob with a warboss or Ghraz in cover would hold objectives till the end.

Yeah, I will explain. Imagine you are inside a box, which your arms are severed and wired too, and they can open the box to perform maitenance. Deff Dread. Now you are wearing a smaller box, it is completely solid and enclosed, from which your limbs protrude. You cannot open this box, and you cannot get out of the box, and the painboys can't get in. It is the difference of being stuck in a box and stuck wearing a box.

I;ve got to ask this, what is the maximum unit size of a mega nobs unit?
And in reference to the GK pallies, I have never once won a game that I took pallies into. Maybe its just bad luck or a curse but the unit slways seems to get.... well..... dead. fast. very fast.

I think the difference between a mega nob and a pally is that a pally isint all the difficult to instant death at toughness 4 (requiring only a strength 8). On the flip side, if I am no mistaken isint a mega nob a hearty toughness 5? requiring a strength of 10 to ID?

Saw this and was curious, I thought Meganobz just had a 2+ save.... Am I wrong?
Where do they get a 5++ from?
I don't use Meganobz because of not having an invulnerable save like terminators.
If I have missed this then things may change!

Your are correct MANZ do not have an invulnerable sv the only upgraded you get from taking MANZ is the 2+sv pk and a shootas that's all maybe an extra wound but I'm not sure, no codex.

He meant the 5++ comes from a Painboy. One of the options a Painboy unlocks is the option for his squad to have Cybor armour.
If they got a Pain Boy, and took the 5++ they would become like Paladisn but worse. They may be Str 8 Int 1 PK, and GK may have NFW so it balances. However, MANz are SNP and Paladins are just relentless. The Apothecary has a 2+ save whereas the Painboy (who need to lose Mega-Nob) would have a 6+.

I'm hoping that mega armour is added next edition as an option for a nobz squad, perhaps an all or nothing or a can be taken as one or two with mega armor, it'd give Gw alot mroe models to save and adding in a painboy in mega armour would probably run more than a sanguinary priest... mmega nob given the current nob upgrade to painboy and for cybork would be a 75 point model. really i would be happy if i could pay for the cybork body even at 10 points per model without mad dok

I may have read this wrong but the only unit that can take a "painboy" is a Nob squad and those don't allow you to take Mega armour!
MANZ squads don't allow you to take a "painboy" at all in their options?
Just wondering if you were mixing up "painboy" with "Mad doc Grotsnik" If so at 160 a pop and +5 per squad member, thats a huge pointsink for just getting a squad upgraded with "cybork"
