OK in answer to the worst cities thread can we have your nominations for best city.

Please give the name (state or county if needed) and country of the city then a reason or list of reasons it is good.

Oh and discuss...

Yeah, a lot of suburban Minnesota is really nice - Eden Prairie comes up pretty often, and Rochester is a great town for anyone involved in the medical industry - our winters keep the riffraff to a minimum.

Inboud...

York, England.

Beautiful buildings, plenty of green space and rivers, large enough to be interesting but not intimdating, traditional pub food, a decent nightlife, and very very clean.

Hrm. Cute little French-Canadian accents, too.

On this line, however, Boston has to get a mention. Highest number of colleges and universities (over 100) in a city in the world. Which means more college chicks than anywhere else in the world.

The city's also good for its own virtues; lots of history, culture (lots of music, clubs, theatrical venues, independent movie theaters, museums), great restaurants, sports (Fenway is one of the most historic sports arenas in the world), high technology jobs. If they matter to you it's also got a couple of little-known schools called MIT and Harvard. Rent and parking can be tricky as the city has lots to offer but streets that were laid out by where the cows walked a couple of hundred years ago.

I'm willing to admit bias, but I've loved living there this year as a student. So much more to do than in Fort William.

I was only taking the piss like, Im not nominating Boro either.

Ive been there heaps of times, its nice enough, easily the best place ive been in Scotland (Arbroath, Dundee, Elgin and Glasgow aren't even close, and the first three are actually fething awful!)

But its too dear and has too gak weather for me to put it on a best in the world list!

I know you were. The weather doesn't bother me though, at home it rains 7 days out of every 10 and last year rained for 310 days out of 365. Edinburgh is practically a desert compared to it!
