So wikipedia says that The Imperium of Man has been confirmed and that there are screenshots of Orks and Chaos being playable. But as we know, the Imperium of Man is kind of a big thing. Do they mean space marines? Are they going to be awesome and let you play as inquisitors or guardsmen or AdMech too?

Thoughts, comments, opinions, hopes, dreams?

Don't get your hopes up on this one. I wasn't big on saying it wasn't coming out, and that THQ wasn't screwed. However, it has recently been announced that DMO will not be a MMO. I see it not being far from the chopping block.

That's beacuse you haven't actuallyp aid much attention.

I know it isn't an MMO anymore. It hasn't been changed that there will be multiple races though. And this was specifically about the races, not the rumor that it isn't an MMO anymore, thank you.

It was orginally planned to let you play as a scout who as they gained levels, was able to 'unlock' the space marine IIRC, probably like the death knight hero class for wow.

But now its not an mmo I imagine it will be characters from each race and as you progress you unlock extra characters such as space marine, chaos marine, ork nob maybe?

I'd think it might be like characters in DOW in first person and with an RPG twist.

So, you can pick a particular character, and as the game develops, you can unlock more and more items.

And here I was hoping for a Fable remake...

Don't get your hopes up.

If it does come out, your probably going to be looking at something similar to Amalur (not that that's a bad thing). A single player MMO.

Add an origin story unique to each "race", and a unique storyline per "side", and I'll enjoy that immensely.

True, I'm not saying it's bad thing, but I think we can pretty much expect an MMO world for singleplayer.

Well at least I enjoy Fable...

Imagine it, purchasing new weapons and abilities as you quest about and stuff. Pretty much describes every single single player RPG.

I loved those in Dragon Age if they put that in I won't be able to sleep until I played all of them. I really hope we get something like that, its a recipe for awesome.
Having them connect in some distant way will also be awesome, if you choose one than you hear something about the events that transpired in the area another should have taken place at.

Yeah, and thus has little to do with Fable. And the idea of purchasing abilities has always irked me.

Actually, how the hell are they going to do that anyway? Imperial forces all get their gear handed to them, they can't collect cash to get the brand new las rifle.

Orks have teeth, so that's easy enough... but the other races? No clue how they will solve this.

For Imperial units, it's a matter of prestige, requisition, and fame.

Influence, if you prefer.

DE could have monies.

Chaos could have Favour (With the Dark Gods)

Eldar is a bit of a grey area.

Necrons... Ummmm....

Tyranids - BIOMASS!

Yeah but that's the point, you can't really have a loot or vendor system in place for actual weapons/armor.

Armouries work just fine.

Each Imperial settlement is gonna have one for the PDF at the very LEAST, anyway, right?

They tried to sell Inquisitor N00BFACE a Heavy Bolter, but were killed to a man.

You guys are missing the point. No one in the imperial army or whatever actualy BUYS weapons, they get weapons shoved in their face and they don't get much of a choice on the matter.

It's like BL. THQ are able to twist fluff to fit their means.

Soladrin has obviously never played Dark Heresy. Money isn't exactly useless in that game.

I obviously have, and my point remains, you don't play as IG or SM in Dark Heresy, and Deathwatch doesn't have moneyz.

All I'm trying to get across to you guys, is that the imperial armymen don't use money except for buying booze.

And as I pointed out earlier, THQ is allowed to bend regular fluff to meet their needs.

I have people play as IG regularly in DH. They do pay IG and they're buying something with that pay(generally non-issued equipment just like real world military members do).

Just because YOU don't, doesn't mean it doesn't or can't happen.
