I was wondering whether GW knows about dakka or not? Does anyone know the answer?

Reportedly there was a special FW Greater Demon character Fraz'Led, Master of the Yard of Doom, but it was shelved as being too horrific for GW's fan base.

They absolutely know about DakkaDakka, and Warsear, and BloodOfKittens, and BellOfLostSouls, and Lexicanum, and every other 40k-centered website.

Their lawyers are busy drafting the DCMA takedown notices even as we speak.

Yes they do know. And yes they do care. Dakka is a place for people to get their opinions out about their company. Everyone knows GW is vulnerable to opinions.

He used to post quite often on Warseer and Bolter and Chainsword (not sure about here?) apparently eschewing the advice given by his contemporaries when he first joined BL ("stick clear of the forums").

However, I don't believe he does so any more. I remember reading a couple of threads on Warseer where he was beating his head bloody against a wall, trying to convince another poster of a particular point (someone who I think, to everyone viewing the thread from outside, was obviously deliberately trolling or else just an attention whore), then a confrontation with that guy who was a rumour poster but was then called out as a fraud by ADB (after the former reckoned he had attended BL meetings, not realising that ADB was actually posting in that thread).

Hello, I'm someone who will never buy anything from your company again. About 2 years and going strong.

All your competitors who I now spend my money on thank you for your horrible business practices driving people straight into their arms.

If I worked there I'd certainly read it Dakka and laugh with my colleagues at all of the relentless, pointless nerd rage and haters.

I never could understand anyone's capacity to feel personally slighted by the practices of a company that manufactures lil' plastic space men.

I'm sure they do, and I'd imagine they have all sorts of "lockdowns" when rumours emerge about something that's been under wraps. All big companies do.

I dont know if it is still the case, but dakka was filtered from the free wifi at bugmans bar at warhammer world when I was last there 2 years ago. A fair few GW people from various departments do read and sometimes post, but we dont 'out' them. The US guys had quiet a big presence on here until the shakeup a few years back.
