As the title says Im looking for a kit that can be used as an emplaced version of the earthshaker. I know forge world has some but Im not willing to spend more on it then the tank version. Anyone know of a kit based on a real world gun that would work well for this?

Any artillery with 120mm gun or larger would probably do. Kits for heavy artillery from WW1 up to recent towed artillery would probably do the job. This for instance http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/afv-club-135-m115-8-howitzer/

Ok one more question. If I'm looking at the parts for the Basilisk kit if I dont glue in the base plate for the main gun the whole assembly should be removable. Can anyone confirm this for me or am i wrong. If that would work I could then use the base tank as on of several different things with some clever modeling and well placed magnets. And then i could just use said removed plate as the emplaced gun just by building a platform for it when not in the tank.

If you want a split frame mount like the FW basilisk emplacement then you will find similar on British 3.7", American 90mm and german flak 8.8cm guns of WW2 vintage.
You might want to up scale a little for 40k bore weaponry.

I can't vouch for the updated kit (if it has been updated) but with mine, the back slides on so you don't even need magnets to keep it in place.

if you don't glue the gun I think it will just fall forwards. Use bluetack (the english version not the horrid american one) or you can magnitise.

What I mean by not gluing is the base plate onto which the whole of the gun is glued to. From having built the manticore and a few other chimera variants the plate you would glue it to just slides into place in such a way that it could be pulled out when not in use and let me use the tank as either a chimera with some work or a hydra using the quad auto cannon from the defense line. Also from what I am seeing the forgeworld one is just the gun from the plastic kit without all the chimeras on a fancy mount.

Thanks Roy that's what I wanted to hear. Now I just need to grab one and figure out how I'm going to make a removable top so i can also run it as a Hydra and chimera when i want to. My end plan is to maybe use the main gun as part of a fortress to make it more dangerous.
